Australian Open men's draw: Andy Murray plays Roberto Bautista Agut, Kyle Edmund faces Tomas Berdych
Andy Murray will face Roberto Bautista Agut in the first round of the Australian Open, with fellow Brit Kyle Edmund drawn against Tomas Berdych.
Australian Nick Kyrgios takes on 16th seed Milos Raonic in arguably the biggest first-round match-up in the men’s draw.
Meanwhile, defending champion Roger Federer plays Denis Istomin, Rafael Nadal faces wildcard James Duckworth, while world No 1 Novak Djokovic will take on a qualifier.
The draw pits Federer and Nadal in the same half, opening up the potential for a semi-final meeting between the pair.
Britain’s Cameron Norrie has a difficult task in facing promising American Taylor Fritz.
A difficult first-round draw for Murray sees the world No 230 face 22nd seed Bautista Agut, though the five-time Australian Open finalist will be buoyed by his 100 per cent record against the Spaniard.
Buatista Agut is also in form having beaten Stan Wawrinka, Berdych and Djokovic in winning in Doha last week.
Other first-round picks include Alexander Zverev (4) v Aljaz Bedene, Kevin Anderson (5) v Adrian Mannarino, and Marin Cilic (6) v Bernard Tomic.
