GAME, SET AND MATCH! - TSONGA 6-7 6-4 6-7 6-7 KYRGIOS. It's all over! Kyrgios takes five points in a row to turn the tie break around (7-5) and seal a hard-fought victory in three hours and 17 minutes. The Aussie won all three tie breaks to edge out Tsonga in a high calibre match. Kyrgios will now meet No.3 seed Grigor Dimitrov in round four.

Nick Kyrgios lors de l'Open d'Australie 2018

TB LATEST: Kyrgios bites back from 2-5 down to lead 6-5. Match point, but it's on the Tsonga serve...

TB LATEST: It's looking like we are heading towards a deciding set. Tsonga leads 4-2 at the change of ends as he reaps some big rewards by venturing into the net. Can Kyrgios turn it around?

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 6-7 6-6 KYRGIOS. To use the local terminology, Tsonga produces a 'beaut' of a volley at the net. It's all he can muster, however, as Kyrgios takes us to the third tie break of the match with some venomous serving.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 6-7 6-5 KYRGIOS. That's a nervy game from Tsonga, but he just about comes through it unscathed. A double fault sees him trail 0-30 but big serving gets him in front. He then fires a loose forehand wide with the game on his racket to give Kyrgios hope. It's quickly extinguished, with the Aussie flashing a scorching forehand on the run just long.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 6-7 5-5 KYRGIOS. Nick goes big with a hefty 122 mph second serve at 30-30 and then clouts down a wide ace to conclude. Gutsy stuff from the Aussie.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 6-7 5-4 KYRGIOS. Kyrgios produces an inspire lob to open, but Tsonga rampages back to take four points in a row and edge back in front.

Elsewhere, the 2017 French Open champion is in trouble in the women's draw.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 6-7 4-4 KYRGIOS. Nick is being made to battle a bit more on his serve. He's pressed to deuce, but conjures up a brutal ace down the middle T to make it four apiece. Right now, the smart money is on another tie break.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 6-7 4-3 KYRGIOS. JW continues to be super strong on serve. He drops just the one point. Kyrgios being a good sport too. Fair to say that this has been played in great spirit, despite JW's fury with a spectator earlier.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 6-7 3-3 KYRGIOS. This really is a cracking watch. Kyrgios levels once more as Tsonga misses the chance to force deuce when he pushed a poorly-executed dropshot from Aussie long.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 6-7 3-2 KYRGIOS. Normal service resumed, quite literally. Tsonga hammers down a pair of aces to surge to a hold to 15.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 6-7 2-2 KYRGIOS. That's a brilliant hold for Nick. Tsonga produces one of the most extraordinary reaction vollesy off the backhand and then benefits from the Aussie's first double fault to earn a BP. The No.17 seed responds with some brilliance of his own to wriggle out of Tsonga' net and reach parity.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 6-7 2-1 KYRGIOS. JW plays his get out of jail card right there. The Frenchman saves two break points to make deuce, but inexplicably forgets it's a second serve and fires down a double fault. A stunningly bold crosscourt forehand winner lands right on the line as he saves a third before finding his serve to get out of dodge.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 6-7 1-1 KYRGIOS. That is Kyrgios at his best. Huge serving, delightful groundstrokes and confident at the net. A love hold and he has the impetus right now. Can the visibly angry, but usually mild-mannered, Tsonga turn it around. Some intriguing moments lie ahead!

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 6-7 1-0 KYRGIOS. Tsonga fuming about something. He focuses enough to get his opening service game out of the way, but has been angrily exchanging words with the chair umpire before and after it. Sounds like it might have something to do with a spectator in the crowd.

SET! - TSONGA 6-7 6-4 6-7 KYRGIOS. The Aussie has the advantage! He leads 2-1 after coming through a tight breaker 8-6. Kyrgios punches the air on the way to his chair after coming up with a wide return Tsonga couldn't quite get back on the stretch.

TB LATEST: Tsonga fights back to lead 6-5 and snare set point, but Kyrgios levels with a sumptuous crosscourt winner off the forehand.

TB LATEST: It's 4-2 to Kyrgios as the Aussie finds his target with a backhand down the line.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 6-6 KYRGIOS. It's another tie break. Tsonga doesn't let up as he takes advantage of Kyrgios' failure with a make-able volley to go on and pummel a trio of aces.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 5-6 KYRGIOS. The Aussie is fighting hard. He's showing real desire out there and saunters to a love hold. He will at the very least compete in a tie break.

Australian Open : nice passing by Kyrgios

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 5-5 KYRGIOS. Nick claims the first point on the Tsonga serve for the first time in the set - but then JW takes the next four, finishing it off with an ace down the middle T.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 4-5 KYRGIOS. Given the way JW has been serving, it's hard to suggest he'll face some scoreboard pressure now, but you never know...

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 4-4 KYRGIOS. It's a serving procession right now. Full speed ahead to the tie break!

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 3-4 KYRGIOS. Nick follows suit, sealing the game with a blistering crosscourt forehand.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 3-3 KYRGIOS. Tsonga at the service line usually means one thing in this match... Yep, that's right, a love hold.

Boom! Shake the room aka Rod Laver Arena.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 2-3 KYRGIOS. Another shout of 'Come on!' and a glance to his team in the stand from Kyrgios as he comes through unscathed from deuce.

Nick Kyrgios

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 2-2 KYRGIOS. JW gets the serving Mojo flowing once more and easily moves level. When he drifts in to the net he has been incredibly dominant, which has been a feature of this high-quality clash.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 1-2 KYRGIOS. Good Nick is back in business - but for how long? He pumps himself up with a yell of 'come on!' at 30-0 and quickly follows his own order by completing a slick love hold.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 1-1 KYRGIOS. Nick finally makes some inroads on the Tsonga serve, but aces 14 and 15 help the Frenchman turn 15-30 into a 40-30 lead. Kyrgios makes deuce, but more big serving and another deft volley at the net enables the No.15 seed to get on the board.

TSONGA 6-7 6-4 0-1 KYRGIOS. The Aussie needed that. He was seriously moping in his chair after dropping the second set, but gets this one off on the front foot.

SET! - TSONGA 6-7 6-4 KYRGIOS. Tsonga shows no sign of pressure as he makes it 18 points in a row on serve to easily see out the set.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga lors de l'Open d'Australie 2018

TSONGA 6-7 5-4 KYRGIOS. Nick poses the serve-out question with a hold to 15. Over to the Frenchman, who has been in red-hot form on serve in the past few games.

TSONGA 6-7 5-3 KYRGIOS. JW remains on course with ANOTHER love hold. he's one away from tying this at 1-1.

TSONGA 6-7 4-3 KYRGIOS. That is very sloppy from Kyrgios. From 40-0 up he almost implodes. Tsonga makes deuce with a lovely backhand that glides down the line before earning a break point. The big serve gets Nick out of trouble and he just about stays in touch.

TSONGA 6-7 4-2 KYRGIOS. Tsonga wastes little time consolidating. He's in the driving seat in Set 2.

BREAK! - TSONGA 6-7 3-2 KYRGIOS. A delicious slice volley at the net claims a break to love for Tsonga. It's been a tight match, but the Frenchman's prowess at the net has been hugely successful when he's opted to come in. Could that be a key factor in the final outcome?

TSONGA 6-7 2-2 KYRGIOS. That's rather good from Tsonga. He plants down a trio of aces to coolly register a love hold.

TSONGA 6-7 1-2 KYRGIOS. Nick motors to a love hold. There's a real air of maturity about him today. Will he finally come of age in this tournament and realise his huge potential?

ONGA 6-7 1-1 KYRGIOS. JW slows it down and makes sure the disappointment of the tie break doesn't flow over into this set. He comes under pressure at 30-30, but cranks it up a notch to take the next two points and level it up.

TSONGA 6-7 0-1 KYRGIOS. The Aussie is buoyant right now. He stays focused to get set 2 off to a strong start. He has a set lead and the scoreboard advantage in this one.

SET! - TSONGA 6-7 KYRGIOS. A highly competitive opening set comes to an end as JW double faults on set point to lose the tie break 7-5. It's been 46 minutes where the Laver Arena crowd have been treated to some cracking tennis. Long may it continue.

Australia's Nick Kyrgios reacts

TB LATEST: It's 3-3 at the change of ends.

TSONGA 6-6 KYRGIOS. Solid stuff from Kyrgios. Into a tie break we go...

TSONGA 6-5 KYRGIOS. The Frenchman appears to be enjoying the underdog role in front of a crowd packed-full of Aussies. He cruises through another hold to guarantee himself the minimum of a tie break.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga - Australian Open 2018

TSONGA 5-5 KYRGIOS. The Aussie comes through a tricky situation, firing down a pair of aces from 15-30 to lead. Tsonga digs in and forces his opponent to deuce. The nerves jangle for the home favourite, who lands another ace and humorously beckons for a JW attempt to drop long. He survives to keep his hopes of nicking this opener alive.

TSONGA 5-4 KYRGIOS. Tsonga may have been broken, but aside from that one game, his serving and follow-ups have been magnificent. As ever, he looks as cool as a cucumber as he turns up the scoreboard pressure on Nick at the business end of the set.

TSONGA 4-4 KYRGIOS. Nick corks a beauty of a backhand on his way to levelling it up. Some super tennis being played at times.

TSONGA 4-3 KYRGIOS. The Frenchman nails a pair of aces to get himself in front on the scoreboard. It's been an intriguing and entertaining encounter so far - but what do you from these two showmen?

BREAK! - TSONGA 3-3 KYRGIOS. A huge slice of luck sees a Tsonga approach hit the net on his second break point. It bobbles over with Kyrgios stranded in mid court. The Aussie had saved one BP with a sweeping pass down the line, but could do little with the second. Unlucky and all square.

TSONGA 1-3 KYRGIOS. The No.17 seed backs up the break with a confident hold. Just what this home crowd were hoping for - good Nick has turned up.

BREAK! - TSONGA 1-2 KYRGIOS. First blood to the Aussie. Nick is looking pretty sharp here.

TSONGA 1-1 KYRGIOS. The Aussie responds in kind with a clinical and almost effortless service game. All square in double-quick time.

TSONGA 1-0 KYRGIOS. A perfect start for JW as he cruises to a live hold to open.

Highlights: Sublime Kyrgios defeats Troicki.
