GAME, SET AND MATCH! - DIMITROV 7-5 4-6 6-3 GOFFIN. Dimitrov, who is set to become the new world No.3 on Monday, wins the biggest title of his career! The Bulgarian, once dubbed 'Baby Fed' will lift the trophy the veteran Swiss was so hotly tipped to land in the absence of so many big names this year. He becomes the sixth debutant to triumph at the tournament at the first time of asking, serving it out to 30 on his fifth match point after an exhilarating two hours and 30 minutes. Goffin fought bravely, but could not repeat the heroics that saw him see off both Nadal and Federer earlier this week. He will now turn his attention to the Davis Cup final with Belgium next week.

DIMITROV 7-5 4-6 5-3 GOFFIN. Hold your horses! Dimitrov has one hand on the trophy as he rampages to triple break point. He has a look at a second serve too, but can't find the winner to finish the match. Goffin shows nerves of steel to somehow survive and pose the serve-out question from deuce. Big moment for Dimi next up.

DIMITROV 7-5 4-6 5-2 GOFFIN. Dimitrov is one away from coming of age. He's been seen as the next big star for years, but never lived up to the hype. He holds firm here, serving solidly to consolidate and close in on a major landmark in his career.

BREAK! - DIMITROV 7-5 4-6 4-2 GOFFIN. It's a major moment in the match and it's a tad harsh on Goffin. At 30-0 a shout from the crowd interrupts him in mid-serve. He goes on to double fault and Dimi works his way back into it to get a break point. Goffin saves it but can't finish from there. The fifth seed gets a second chance and punches the air as the Belgian's backhand swings wide of the left tramlines he is facing.

DIMITROV 7-5 4-6 3-2 GOFFIN. No such issues for Dimitrov, who is very much back in the groove. A sumptuous forehand is a stand-out point in an otherwise simple love hold.

DIMITROV 7-5 4-6 2-2 GOFFIN. A double fault forces Le Goff to deuce, but he scampers to put-away a deflection off the net cord before the game concludes with a sloppy return from Dimitrov.

DIMITROV 7-5 4-6 2-1 GOFFIN. A couple of misfires off the Goffin forehand help Dimi along before a blistering first serve down the middle T clinches a hold to 15. The Bulgarian appears to be slowly raising his game again - but he's still some way short of his sensational round-robin form.

DIMITROV 7-5 4-6 1-1 GOFFIN. This time it's Goffin's turn to come under fire. The No.7 seed sees 30-0 evaporate into a break point as the sheer athleticism of Dimi on the backhand helps him edge a wonderful rally. Goffin retorts and finds some big serves to pull level.

DIMITROV 7-5 4-6 1-0 GOFFIN. Alarm bells ring for Dimitrov as a buoyed Le Goff attacks and tees up two break points. An unfortunate shank off the frame costs the Belgian, who then sees another two chances go begging as his attacking brand of tennis is unrewarded on this occasion. It's a huge hold for Dimi and one that will be significant if he does end up lifting this trophy.

SET! - DIMITROV 7-5 4-6 GOFFIN. No nerves there. Goffin ties the match with a convincing game to love. It's all on one set now - does Le Goff have the momentum or can Grigor turn the tide back in his favour?

David Goffin au Masters 2017

DIMITROV 7-5 4-5 GOFFIN. Dimitrov's improvised flick of the wrist to deal with an awkward return to his feet somehow denies Goffin a look at two set points. The Belgian decides to keep going for his shots, but can't conjure up the break and will now hope to hold his nerve to serve it out and level the match.

DIMITROV 7-5 3-5 GOFFIN. Le Goff crunches an eighth ace of the night on his way to consolidating with a game to 30. We are on the verge of a decider - can Dimitrov hit back to avoid it?

BREAK! - DIMITROV 7-5 3-4 GOFFIN. David strikes first in Set 2! A pair of double faults help him along, but it's a couple of forehand pearls that finish the job off. Dimi's undoing much to do with himself there.

DIMITROV 7-5 3-3 GOFFIN. Wonderful nerve to go for the big shots under pressure. Goffin faces break point and comes up against Dimi's elastic defence and backhand slice. The Belgian stays calm and waits for his moment, unleashing a ferocious crosscourt backhand winner that clips the edge of the line. It gives the No.7 seed the impetus to see the game and move level.

DIMITROV 7-5 3-2 GOFFIN. Impressive work from Dimi. Slice backhand, rasping forehand and emphatic overhead - check. Game comfortably in the bag? Check.

David Goffin

DIMITROV 7-5 2-2 GOFFIN. Le Goff looking strong on serve right now. It's another perfect hold with the minimum of fuss. Still waiting for this set to explode into life.

DIMITROV 7-5 2-1 GOFFIN. A wide ace seals the deal for Dimitrov from deuce after Goffin had threatened from 40-15 down.

Grigor Dimitrov

DIMITROV 7-5 1-1 GOFFIN. That'll do nicely. David needed a confidence booster and they don't come much better than a routine love hold.

DIMITROV 7-5 1-0 GOFFIN. Dimi's got his mojo back. He races to a love hold to cap an excellent last 10 minutes or so.

SET! - DIMITROV 7-5 GOFFIN. The No.5 seed completes the turnaround with some real persistence to break at the death. Goffin saves four set points in a rollercoaster game, but can't fend off a fifth. It was a cracking 59 minutes, truly entertaining. What does Goffin have left in his tank? He came from behind to defeat Federer, but that effort could well have taken something out of his reserves.

Grigor Dimitrov golpea la bola en la final de las ATP Finals ante David Goffin

DIMITROV 6-5 GOFFIN. Grigor has to dig himself out of a hole created by back-to-back double faults. Great defence with a supercharged pass on the stretch denies Goffin what would have been two break points, and the Bulgarian goes on to guarantee himself the minimum of a tie break with the help of a timely ace.

DIMITROV 5-5 GOFFIN. Strong focus from Goffin as he motors through a routine hold under scoreboard pressure.

DIMITROV 5-4 GOFFIN. Suddenly it's Dimitrov in the driving seat. He wins two quite sensational points, the first as good as any seen throughout this week. He somehow reaches Goffin's sliced backhand dropshot with a forehand down the line before finishing it in style with a stun volley. The second sees him pass the Belgian with a venomous crosscourt forehand.

BREAK! - DIMITROV 4-4 GOFFIN. All square! Dimitrov comes out swinging. Goffin responds with two lovely serve and volley points before a double fault and an overcooked forehand allow the Bulgarian to snare parity.

DIMITROV 3-4 GOFFIN. That's more like it from Grigor. Four first serves make life much easier as he breezes to a hold to 15. He's slowly settling into this final after an awful start.

Grigor Dimitrov

DIMITROV 2-4 GOFFIN. David maintains his advantage by upping the tempo from 30-30, pulling off a nice wide serve-crosscourt winner combo and an un-returnable first serve.

DIMITROV 2-3 GOFFIN. And finally, it's a hold for Dimitrov too. The new world No.3 (from tomorrow) is pressed to deuce by a stonking return winner from Goffin, who then slaps a make-able crosscourt forehand into the net. It's near miss for the Belgian, and Dimi takes advantage with a big serve to hopefully settle some of those butterflies.

DIMITROV 1-3 GOFFIN. We have our first hold! A bulldozer of a forehand gives Dimi some early initiative, but Le Goff responds with a pair of aces to consolidate with a game to 30. No doubt about it, the Belgian is hitting more freely so far.

BREAK! - DIMITROV 1-2 GOFFIN. It's three breaks in a row! Dimitrov has lost the swagger he's had throughout this week and pays the price for a very sloppy service game. He gifts Goffin three bites at the cherry and the Belgian eventually makes it count on the final one with a swift croscourt winner off the backhand.

BREAK! - DIMITROV 1-1 GOFFIN. Le Goff equally tight with his service rhythm and Dimitrov hits right back. It's almost a mirror of the opener, but this time it's the Bulgarian who draws the error long on his second break point. Dimi yells out in delight while Goffin slaps the ball away in frustration at the missed opportunity.

BREAK! - DIMITROV 0-1 GOFFIN. Early nerves from Dimitrov despite some lovely point construction to lead 30-15. Goffin takes full advantage and hammers a sublime crosscourt return winner to get off to a flyer on his second break point.

Dimitrov will get the 2017 ATP World Tour finals final underway by serving first.

Cracking stat. New territory for both and no doubt plenty of butterflies as the players conclude their warm up.

Dimitrov: “The goal was to finish the year top 10. Now I finished 3. It's wonderful, a wonderful reward. This is what I've been working for… I think it's not only good for me, I think for the whole team. I think that gives us a very good platform to start in the off-season, yeah, have a good start of next year.”

Grigor Dimitrov not only sealed qualification from his group but will go through top

Meanwhile, in the doubles....

Goffin became only the sixth player to defeat both Federer and Rafael Nadal in the same event when he upset the Swiss Maestro on Saturday afternoon. Speaking in the immediate aftermath of that triumph, he said: “Both are really special. It was the first time against Rafa. Then the semi-final for the first time for me here, and to beat Roger for the first time here in such a big event, big tournament, it was the perfect moment... it is the best win of my career, for sure.”

So, was it tennis' shock of the year? It has to be up there. Le Goff claimed a first win in seven meetings to halt Roger's charge towards a seventh end-of-season title.

HEAD-TO-HEAD: Dimitrov leads the match-up 4-1. He beat Le Goff 6-0 6-2 just a few days ago on this very court. Does that make him red-hot favourite? We'll see. Goffin will be a different proposition after his shock triumph over Federer.
