Last season's third-place finisher Cai Xuetong made the perfect start to her FIS Snowboard World Cup season with halfpipe victory in the Secret Garden.

The home favourite carded a score of 88.75 to take her first world cup event since 2016, with PyeongChang champion Chloe Kim absent from the field.

In the park that will be used for the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, Xuetong set down a marker for the new season, finishing ahead of Switzerland's Verena Rohrer in second on 85.25 and Japanese boarder Kurumi Imai on 82.25.

In the men's competition, Swiss rider Jan Scherrer claimed the first World Cup win of his career with a dominant display in China.

The 24-year-old stomped down a run of 95.50, with Japanese duo Ruka Hirano (92.50) and Yuto Totsuka (92.25) making up the top-three.
