Ledecka claims first win of new season in style
Ester Ledecka claimed her first World Cup win of the new season by storming to victory in the snowboard Parallel Giant Slalom in Italy.
The 23-year-old Czech star enjoyed a stunning last season that culminated in her historic double Olympic golds in PyeongChang across snowboard and skiing.
But it was back to the day job in Cortina d’Ampezzo on Saturday as she held off Switzerland’s Julie Zogg to claim the win.
Ledecka had already downed Sabine Schoeffman in the semi-finals but the Austrian dusted herself down to pick up third.
Ledecka’s first win of the season came after Nadya Ochner won on Friday in Carezza – Ledecka having to settle for second.
But Ochner was sixth a day later in Cortina d’Ampezzo to give Ledecka the early edge in the standings.
