Well, that was a match of two halves - if that's possible. The first two frames involved some confident potting from both players, but the second two were distinctly lacking in quality. White will want to step it up, but the main thing from his perspective is that he's through.

But that may all be over now. White is 57-17 up with no reds available so Davison requires four snookers to prevent the seemingly inevitable.
It's been attritional warfare out here after such a lively start.
Early error from Davison puts White in a good position to take an early lead using the blue.
What a shot from Jimmy White. Davison's carelessness on the position shot costs him dear as he gives his opponent a sniff of a long pot which White duly knocks in before dispatching the black.
Stroke of luck for Davison as he flukes a yellow off two cushions and via a deflection off the pink. We're down to the last two balls but he's got a poor position on the pink.
The explosive play from both players has now been replaced by measured, thoughful tactics. It's 30-30 in this crucial third frame.
Terrific snooker laid by Davison - he's very much up for the fight here. But White is more than a match to it and lays an even better one - possibly the match of the tournament so far.
Game on now. Davison has brought his A game to this match and White has responded accordingly.
Davison hasn't done a lot wrong here but one mistake and he's punished - White is onto the colours and he should clear up from here.
Majestic shot from the Whirlwind. He has a tricky shot on the blue to get back on a red, but he fires it in with the white coming off the right and top cushions back down the table to absolute perfection.
Davison has started like a house on fire and White hasn't had the chance to stop him... until now. Davison misses the black and the Whirlwind comes to the table and fires in a red to the cheer of the crowd, who he salutes in recognition.
Upset on the cards here. Davison takes the first frame in composed fashion and with these matches being first to three frames, it isn't very often the player who wins the first loses the match.
Could that be costly? A fine break from Davison leaves him 65-0 up, but then he misses a cut to the bottom-left pocket as his mind is on how to get on the black for the next shot.
Good start from Davison. He's put in some accomplished pots and with the reds spread and the black open, it's a good chance for the Yorkshire man.
We're back for the evening session here, with Paul Davison taking on Jimmy White. Davison breaks; will there be some magic from The Whirlwind?
