GOAL! MALTA 0-4 ENGLAND (KANE)
Oooo there's another. Rashford is told to kick it out by Walker because of an injury. Rashford ignores him, clips it over to Kane and he smashes it in.
Suddenly this looks very comfortable.
- GoalDanny WelbeckEngland
GOAL! MALTA 0-3 ENGLAND (WELBECK)
Oh blimey wait he has scored. Kane plays it over to him and he nips in ahead of Hogg to poke it in. Good finish.
Welbeck almost makes it three following a good cross in but it is easy for Hogg.
- OffAndre SchembriMalta
- OnMichael MifsudMalta
After that 36-year-old Michael Mifsud is on.
Cap number 125 for the record appearance holder and goal-scorer. He takes the captain's armband.
- GoalRyan BertrandEngland
GOAL! MALTA 0-2 ENGLAND (BERTRAND)
Ryan Bertrand gets bored and decides to have a go for distance. It's a decent strike but Hogg will be really upset that has beaten him.
Replays show it may have taken a slight deflection but he should have saved it.
- OffRyan FenechMalta
- OnPaul FenechMalta
Paul Fenech comes on to replace Ryan Fenech
Slovakia have scored which means as things stand they could hypothetically beat England on Monday and go top of the group.
And here's that shot from Rashford
Oxlade-Chamberlain is off and Welbeck is on.
Rashford has taken aim from, let's say a long way out, and it's swerving and moving and Hogg does well to block.
- OffJoseph ZerafaMalta
- OnRyan CamilleriMalta
And he can't continue as Camilleri comes on to replace him.
Vardy's involved quickly as Rashford clips a ball over the top to him. He tries to poke t past Hogg but can't quite get it on target. Zerafa is now down.
- OffDele AlliEngland
- OnJamie VardyEngland
We have a change now as Vardy replaces Alli
And a pitch invader which has called a halt to proceedings.
Here's that England for you
Malta don't look too afraid to counter here. England have gone a little flat now.
Walker does well to cut out a danger ball.
Malta do well to get down the right-hand side. However the cut-back into the box isn't great and it's easy for Hart to gather.
Kane has a go from range and Hogg does well to parry it away, it was moving in the air.
England trying to step up the pace here and find that second goal that really will put the game to bed.
Malta have another shot as Magri bursts forward and has a go from range. Once again Hart is diving but he's got it covered.
- GoalHarry KaneEngland
GOAL! MALTA 0-1 ENGLAND (KANE)
Harry Kane is off the mark on September 1st. Alli does really well to keep the ball and just passes it through to Kane. He takes a touch and fires it into the net.
Crikey that's decent. The captain Schembri plucks the ball out of the air and fires a very good volley towards goal. It has Hart scrambling but goes narrowly wide.
Quiet start from England so far. Rashford looks bright but nothing's changed yet.
Welcome back and there's a change to tell you about.
Rashford on and Sterling off.
The two holding midfielders continue...
A shot right at the end of the half as Oxlade-Chamberlain turns and shoots but it's easy for Hogg. England fans not happy at half-time and rightly so.
Some good passing from Malta ends with Pisani trying a hollywood pass that does not come off.
Another foul from Sterling. He's walking a tight line here...
Will Southgate make changes at half-time? Playing two holding midfielders seems a little pointless here and an extra attacker, maybe the pace of Vardy or Rashford, could help open things up a little more.
Slight concern for Malta here as Borg is down injured.
Sterling was a little on him due to a heavy touch.
Heart in mouth moment for Agius as he clearance to steal the ball from Kane loops up and narrowly wide of Hogg's goal.
Corner comes to nothing.
Good defending from Muscat as he shields the ball from the onrushing Walker. The Manchester City bundles him over but there's no hard feeling as they're laughing and smiling as they get up.
Malta win a free-kick as Kristensen, the Malta Player of the Year, is taken out around the half-way line.
And here's that disallowed goal for England
Henderson, who seems to be on all the set-pieces, sends it into Kane but Magri heads over.
Hogg gets the ball away from the corner with a good punch.
Kane, Walker and Livermore do well and the latter plays it into Alli in the box but it's just a little bit too high. England have a free-kick for a foul on Henderson.
Lovely little one-two between Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kane sets the latter away down the right. His cross is deflected behind for a corner.
The ball ends up in the net, I think off Jones but I'm not sure, but the referee has blown his whistle for a foul on Hogg.
There are some boos and it turns out that it's because the England fans refused to join in a Mexican Wave.
Malta keeping this relatively tight so far but England will know that if they get one it could open the floodgates.
Here is that early chance for Kane
Schembri gets taken out by Jones and he's unhappy as a free-kick isn't awarded by the referee.
A loose clearance from Malta sees Oxlade-Chamberlain get down the right. He cuts the ball back to Henderson who sweeps it first time into Alli. He tries to hook it into the net but it goes over.
Sterling and Bertrand link up well down the left to win a corner. Kristensen is furious. It is taken short and Henderson's tame shot is easy for Hogg.
Interesting to see Oxlade-Chamberlain is playing out wide.
He may have move to Liverpool to play more centrally but internationally he is still a wide man, for now...
Livermore does well to rob the ball in midfield and it goes to Kane. However the Spurs man doesn't return the pass and tries to go it alone and is tackled.
That's a brilliant save from Hogg. The ball is swung in from the right and Kane leaps highest to power a header towards goal. Hogg is alert and pushes the ball wide, great work from the Malta keeper.
The throw is worked to the middle and Fennech catches the ball really well. It does go over though.
First bit of work for Hart, who is definitely under pressure tonight, as he comes out to clear a ball out for a throw.
And we're underway!
England start really well with a lot of intent and Kane fires the ball into the feet of Sterling. He can't get a shot away and Hogg smothers it.
Right we're just a couple of minutes away from kick-off
Let's get your predictions!
And speaking of Southgate let's hear from the England manager ahead of the game.
England have won away already in this qualification period but of course that was Sam Allardyce.
Should he win tonight this will be Southgate's first away win.
SO HOW ARE ENGLAND DOING?
Well it's so far not been as comprehensive as previous World Cup qualification campaigns.
The draws against Slovenia and Scotland mean that England are only three points ahead of the former and just two ahead of Slovakia.
England face Slovakia at Wembley on Monday evening but before that it is Slovakia v Slovenia tonight. Should Slovakia win that then Monday could become very interesting...
*In all likelihood England will still qualify comfortably.
So as I mentioned earlier Jordan Henderson is tonight's captain. Gareth Southgate is looking for a successor to Wayne Rooney and other obvious candidates include Gary Cahill and Harry Kane.
DON'T I KNOW YOU? PART II
And of course in goal tonight will be Andrew Hogg, who was born in England before eventually moving to Malta.
DON'T I KNOW YOU?
A nice moment for Raheem Sterling and Nathaniel Chalobah ahead of the game as they caught up with Sam Magri, who was represented England at youth level.
This is a wonderful gesture from Malta, paying their own tribute to Bradley Lowery who recently passed away following his battle with Neuroblastoma.
Right apologies for the slight delay in the Malta team the Maltese FA's Twitter account isn't the best but here we are.
Hogg, Magri, Borg, Agius, Fenech, Schembri, Muscat, Farrugia, Kristensen, Zerafa, Pisani
Unconfirmed but those who know seem to think that'll be a 3-5-2.
Lets start with the visitors shall we and it's clear that Gareth Southgate isn't taking too many chances against a team who have already been eliminated.
Hart, Walker, Cahill, Jones, Bertrand, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Livermore, Henderson, Sterling, Alli, Kane.
It's a strong team and it looks like a 4-4-1-1 with Alli just behind Kane as they are for Spurs.
Liverpool's Jordan Henderson takes the armband tonight with the suggestion being that Southgate may rotate captains until the World Cup next summer.
Good evening and welcome to live coverage of England's World Cup qualifier away in Malta.
Team news is on the way!
