All over at Wembley! It's another three points for England and they sit pretty at the top of Group F. They'll discover just how far ahead they are of the chasing pack when the other four sides play this evening. A must-win for Scotland at home to Slovenia.
But for England it's job done. Comfortable win, nothing flashy. Still unbeaten in qualifying. Job's a goodun.
SAVE! Rashford again looks to dart forward with the ball and he bursts into the box, but Setkus rushes out to close down the angle and stops the cross/shot.
Three minutes added on...
So Hoddle has plumped for Defoe man of the match... And that just gets announced at Wembley. Bit of a strange one, that...
- OffVykintas SlivkaLithuania
- OnSimonas PauliusLithuania
FInal sub for Lithuania.
BLOCKED! SAVE! Two capped up words for two chances for England. First it's Alli who sees his effort blocked and it then falls for Oxlade-Chamberlain, whose decent strike is comfortably caught by Setkus.
JUST WIDE! Corner for England and it's an inch-perfect cross from Rashford for Dier who is six yards out but heads wide of the mark.
CLOSE! Great ball over the top from Rashford for Vardy, who just needs to dink it over the goalkeeper but he gets too much power on it. He's annoyed with himself after that one, perhaps he gave himself that black eye. Does love to punch his own face.
Walker's cross is inches away from the head of Vardy, and moments later another cross almost finds the Leicester striker. Was a clever ball in from Lallana with the outside of his foot.
Best buds Dier and Alli certainly not on the same wavelength there. Cries of shoot with Dier on the ball 25 yards out but he slides it along for Alli, but it's nowhere near the midfielder, who did not make the run Dier had expected.
- OffNerijus ValskisLithuania
- OnDeivydas MatuleviciusLithuania
Cheeky cheeky from Rashford, who claims he was tugged back when the cross came in and he ends up punching the ball with it being too high to head. The Utd man is booked for the handball.
Meanwhile it's another sub for the visitors.
SAVE! Walker picks out team-mate Alli in the middle, and he takes a couple of touches to work some space for the shot, but his low effort is straight at Setkus.
A sixth England goal for Vardy...
MISS! Quick move from England with space opening up for the hosts. Lallana's cross along the turf finds Vardy but the striker can't quite sort his feet out and his standing leg hits the ball as his left foot strikes but misses.
GOAL VARDY! ENGLAND 2-0 LITHUANIA
Thank you Jamie! A much-needed goal to lift the Wembley crowd. It's brilliant from Lallana, whose deft touch flicks on Walker's pass for Vardy, and the Leicester striker slots it home from 10 yards out.
England win a corner but it's too strong and rolls out for a Lithuania throw. The half started with promise but it's gone flat again. Time for some Rashford or Vardy magic methinks...
Very hopeful effort from Zulpa, who fires well over from about 30 yards out. Saw his name in lights there...
- OffRaheem SterlingEngland
- OnMarcus RashfordEngland
And straight away Rashford looks to make an impact but the overruns it slightly... Change of pace when he comes on!
- OffJermain DefoeEngland
- OnJamie VardyEngland
And that's Defoe and Sterling's afternoon over.
On comes Vardy, sporting a black eye it appears... Would love to hear that story.
And Rashford is on too. Sterling arguably England's best player but will be good to see the Man Utd youngster get a run out.
- Yellow cardArturas ZulpaLithuania
Yellow for Zulpa, who brings down Lallana with England looking to counter. Slightly frustrating for the hosts but he should have played the ball earlier in truth.
Walker intercepts and drives England forward. Oxlade-Chamberlain then plays it to Alli, who opts to let it run but no player is behind him and Lithuania retrieve possession.
England just camped in the Lithuania half now and a cross from Bertrand is just too strong for Alli at the back post.
- OffArvydas NovikovasLithuania
- OnMindaugas GrigaraviciusLithuania
Sub for the visitors.
SAVE! And it's a first of the afternoon for Hart... It's neat play from Cernych, who picks out Slivka in the middle, but his effort is rather tame and Hart gets down to keep it out.
SAVE DOWN THE OTHER END! And now it's the Ox who tests Setkus from range, and the 'keeper dives to his left to parry the effort away.
Better from England this half and it's a decent cross from Walker, who picks out club team-mate Alli but the Spurs man can't keep his header down.
CHANCE! Not entirely clear how Sterling has missed this. It's great play from Bertrand down the left and his low cross picks out Sterling at the back post, but he can't get a proper connection onto it and it's collected by Setkus.
Replays show Sterling didn't quite anticipate the ball coming to him through a crowd of players.
- Yellow cardEgidijus VaitkunasLithuania
As cynical as a foul can get from Vaitkunas, who finds his way into the referee's book following a very poor 'challenge' on Oxlade-Chamberlain.
- 2nd Half
Have a nice break? Good.
We're back underway at Wembley, so put dinner on hold and we'll tuck into another 45 minutes of international football. The visitors kick us off this half.
No subs made for either side.
- End of 1st Half
OFF THE LINE! Hart can't quite believe the flag hasn't gone up here... The goalkeeper hoofs it forward and the header back finds Slivka, who beats Hart to the ball and heads it over the 'keeper. But Stones is on hand to rush back and clear it before it rolls over.
Replays show the Lithuania forward about three yards offside! And yet the flag didn't go up. Let off for England.
And there's the half-time whistle.
Just one minute added on...
Another short stoppage with Alli down after he was caught late. Hobbling a little bit but the Spurs man looks fine to continue. Meandering towards half-time...
It's attack v defence. Nothing more than that really. It's a training session for England so far and it's a test that England are passing, but only with merit. Will be looking for a performance with distinction after the break...
A momentary period of excitement as England play some lovely one and two-touch football but Bertrand is then careless as the ball rolls out for a goal-kick just before he gets in a cross.
So as we near half-time it's all gone rather quiet at Wembley. Few chances of note since England's opener and it's just gone a bit flat in the last 10 minutes. A lift from the crowd needed!
Sterling causing all sorts of problems for Lithuania but this time his efforts don't quite come off as Setkus rushes out to collect the ball from the feet of the winger.
Believe it or not Azerbaijan have equalised against Germany in their qualifier, and that makes England the last side yet to concede a goal in the European section for qualifying. Some stat.
And you can follow that Germany match here, by the way...
Risky challenge from Klimavicius who escapes a yellow despite going in late on Alli. Thankfully the England man is okay, could have been a lot worse with the studs showing there a tad.
JUST WIDE! Defoe just lives for goals. He needs no second invitation to shoot when picking the ball up from 25 yards out, but his effort sails narrowly wide of the mark. He'll be hungry for more following his 20th goal in an England shirt.
WIDE! Shot for Lithuania! And Cernych will be disappointed he hasn't done better there. He brings down the long ball perfectly but his shot on the turn from the edge of the area trickles wide and Hart remains untested in the England goal.
Sterling back on the field of play. Holding his back while on the sidelines but looks fine now as he receives the ball from Keane.
And here it is! Defoe doesn't miss those... Ever.
Slight concern for Sterling with the Man City winger down. He has shone so far today and will receive some treatment. Cue water break for the other 21 out there.
GOAL DEFOE! England 1-0 Lithuania
Moments after Defoe sees his close-range effort saved by Setkus, the Sunderland striker opens the scoring at Wembley!
It's great play from Sterling, who leaves Vaitkunas for dead before picking Defoe out in the middle, and he makes no mistake from eight yards out. What a way to mark your return to international football!
The corner from Bertrand seeks out Stones but it's cleared by Lithuania. Now Sterling is penalised after trying to shield the ball, but Vaitkunas goes down to earn the visitors a free-kick.
Cross-field ball picks out Walker and it's a quality touch from the Spurs defender who has to leap into the air to bring it down. His cross is subsequently headed away but England now have a corner. Keane and Stones up...
All a bit laboured from England so far. Looking comfortable but nothing more than that really...
Lallana trying to make things happen for the hosts. Firstly his cross almost finds the head of Walker, while moments later he manages to squeeze out a shot but it's deflected and straight at Setkus in the Lithuania goal.
NIce play from Sterling who then feeds Bertrand down the left, but his low cross is cleared out and England must start again from the back with Stones.
Decent chance for England to counter and they have the right man on the ball in that aspect with Walker carrying it forward at some speed. He tries to pick out Defoe but his pass cannot find its intended target. Suddenly 10 minutes have passed and there's little to report!
Well that was pretty poor.... A routine from the training ground as Lallana rolls it foward to Alli on the edge of the area, but his flick is misplaced and bobbles out for a goal-kick.
Solid start from England but nothing too threatening so far. Free-kick now though which Lallana is over...
All of England's width will come from their full-backs this afternoon. Walker one of the furthest forward down the right but the Tottenham defender gives away the foul and hands possession back to the visitors.
All England so far but they're just passing it around nicely. No rush just yet as Stones and Keane look to build from the back.
- 1st Half
Right then. Time for football. It's Defoe who gets us underway at Wembley!
Ahead of kick-off, a minute's silence to remember those who lost their lives in the terror attack in London on Wednesday.
Great to see young Bradley Lowery with Jermain Defoe - and Joe Hart has even let the striker lead England out with five-year-old Bradley. Lovely touch!
Time for the national anthems...
And there will be short odds on Defoe getting on the scoresheet...
With Lallana, Alli and Sterling behind the Sunderland striker, there's no shortage of quality to prove him with the service needed.
Just 10 minutes until we get underway at Wembley. A wee look at the bookeis and you'll find England are overwhelming favourites for this one at 1/10 to win.
Fancy a Lithuania win? 45/1 in some places. FOURTY FIVE!
Worth watching out for Lithuania's Fiodor Cernych, who has scored in three of their qualifying games so far. The captain scored a terrific effort against Scotland last year in the 2-2 draw, and the 25-year-old will want to shine on the biggest stage of them all this afternoon.
How time flies... Captain for the day Joe Hart is making his 70th appearance this afternoon. Just four caps away from Gordon Banks, though quite some distance away from Peter Shilton's 125.
Don't despair! Tom Adams brings you three things to look out for this afternoon...
STATE OF PLAY
Here's how Group F looks ahead of this afternoon's action...
Scotland host Slovenia at 7.45pm this evening, while Slovakia travel to Malta. England are well placed and a win for both Home Nations would leave Southgate's men sitting very pretty at the top. You feel Scotland must win this afternoon to keep their qualification hopes alive - and you'll be able to follow that match on Eurosport later!
LAST TIME OUT
It has only been two years since England last faced Lithuania. During qualification for Euro 2016, England enjoyed a comfortable 4-0 victory at Wembley in March 2015, while the Three Lions went on to win 3-0 in Lithuania seven months later.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was on target in that last match - can the Arsenal man repeat the feat this afternoon?
Hello and welcome to England vs Lithuania.
Here's the line-ups for both - Joe Hart will captain the England side at Wembley.
Afternoon all. Let's waste no time and bring you news of the England XI for their World Cup Qualifier against Lithuania.
Jermain Defoe starts in what is his first international since November 2013. And having opted for 3-4-3 against Germany in the week, Gareth Southgate appears to have plumped for a 4-2-3-1.
