  • End of 2nd Half

It's all over! Roord the hero for the Netherlands but it's almost an exhausted celebration from the European champions - they know they've got lucky there, and New Zealand will be gutted to come away from that with nothing!

What a moment for substitute Roord, who was in the right place at the right time after a cross ricocheted back into the air, heading in from inside the six-yard area and beyond the helpless Nayler. So harsh on New Zealand.

This has not been the Dutch's day so far... and it's summed up by Bloodworth's long pass which runs out for a goal-kick instead of finding Van de Donk.

New Zealand edging towards just a fourth draw in what is their 13th World Cup game - yet to taste victory in this tournament, could they yet shock the European champions?

A corner for the Netherlands but Miedema can only head over. Time running out!

WIDE! Satchell shrugs off one defender but can only shoot wide of the near post as she looks to go it alone.

HUGE SAVE! The left foot of Nayler denies Miedema at the near post after she looked to have steered a low cross in!

Just no way through for Miedema as she tries to evade a couple of tackles inside the opposition's box. A real resolute display from NZ in defence, frustrating some of the best in the business.

SAVE! Bott sends in a cross from deep which White meets and her header forces Van Veenendaal into a save. The flag goes up afterwards to signal offside!

The Dutch look to attack down the right this time but a cross is headed away by Stott inside the six-yard box before Bott hoofs it away.

JUST WIDE! So, so close... Martens finds Miedema with a through ball, and she fizzes an effort across goal which avoids the post by a whisker.

Past the hour-mark, and still no changes.

Nayler can breathe a sigh of relief as she spills a low cross and thankfully watches Erceg clear the danger.

JUST OVER! Martens takes the ball onto her left foot and fires narrowly over from a difficult angle.

Meanwhile, VAR is checking for a possible penalty and handball, but the referee waves play on. Stand down!

Have to feel for Gregorius there. A difficult chance to take first-time and she's ended up scooping it from about seven yards out. A proper connection and the goalkeeper would have had no chance.

SAVE! A huge moment and somehow the Dutch survive! First, Chance sends in a cross and it misses both Gregorius and White... moments later another cross is met by Gregorius but she can't quite connect with it properly and Van Veenendaal gets across to parry it away!

Pretty slow start to the half, a bit slower than expected given that you would have thought the Dutch would be smarting from their first-half display.

The stats at half-time.

  • 2nd Half

And we are back under way for the second half! The Dutch get the ball rolling...

  • End of 1st Half

That's the half. An opening 45 where the Dutch have been dominant, and though Bloodworth should have scored just before the break, it was New Zealand who twice went close through Chance and White. All to play for.

The Dutch camped on the edge of New Zealand's area and eventually it's Miedema who sees a shot deflect wide for a corner.

BIG MISS! The cross comes in from Spitse and Gregorius can only half clear it... a second cross comes in and as Nayler is clattered by her own defender, Bloodworth somehow fires wide!

One minute added on.

Nayler will hardly believe she has had just the one save to make this first half - two minutes to go, but it is has been a half of promise for New Zealand. Expect the Dutch to come out all guns blazing after the break.

A few of the Dutch players have their heads in their hands as a corner comes in, bounced inside the six-yard area and then out for a goal-kick the other wide. Van de Gragt looked to be closest but NZ survive.

Van de Sanden and Martens have switched wings as they look to shake it up and trouble the New Zealand defence, who in truth are the stars of the show so far.

Van Veenendaal to the rescue again as she claims the cross which came from the subsequent corner.

BIG SAVE! New Zealand counter and White takes a touch before striking it while it's still bouncing, and it curves towards the far corner but Van Veenendaal makes a flying save to tip it behind for a corner.

Patient build-up play from the Netherlands but Groenen's mistake hands the ball back to New Zealand before they earn a goal-kick.

CLOSE! The Dutch have a corner and though NZ want a free-kick as the cross comes in, no foul is given and as it's headed across goal Martens can't quite get over it when heading over the bar herself.

The referee wisely eyes Gregorius like a boxing referee would after a knockdown, making sure she is all there before continuing. But she's good to go, seconds out, round two...

Two thumbs up from one of the physios as Gregorius gets to her feet and the stretcher makes its way back off the pitch, thankfully without the player lying on it. She's applying ice to her nose and there seems to be a bit of blood too, but she'll be fine to continue.

Now it's Gregorius who is down for New Zealand. Not overly sure what the problem is but a stretcher has been called.

White fancies her chances against the Dutch defence but just as she thinks she's through on goal, Van der Gragt is there to sweep up as the last woman back.

Midway through the first half and NZ's defence are standing tall so far. Martens has looked dangerous and Miedema has been lurking, but no way through yet.

Martens beats Bott but can't get past Stott as it's turned behind for a corner... it's played short before being crossed in but Nayler is there to catch it.

Van de Donk seems fine after her early injury scare. The Dutch remain on top althogh it was Chance who has gone closest for New Zealand so far.

SAVE! A nerve-settler for Nayler in the New Zealand goal as she gets down low to keep out Martens' first-time effort.

CHANCE! For Chance! And more than just a chance.... she rattles the woodwork with a terrific shot from distance. Van Veenendaal was nowhere near it but has the crossbar to thank!

A NZ player called Chance - which causes your ears to prick up every time the commentator mentions her name.

The Football Ferns also have Bott and Stott at CB and RB - very satisfying.

No surprise to see the Dutch attacking down the left with Martens operating on that side - this time she sends in a teasing cross but Nayler is there to claim it.

Worrying moment for Van de Donk, who is down after a 50-50 challenge and then goes hobbling off the pitch. She receives some treatment but is not moving too well out there.

New Zealand have fared better since that fast start for the Dutch.

Fast start from the Netherlands and it's Martens who shows her quality with a brilliant turn past Bott, but the subsequent cross is blocked and New Zealand clear the danger.

  • 1st Half

And away we go! New Zealand and the Netherlands get their World Cup campaign under way.

The teams are already out! TIme for the national anthems, handshakes and team photos, then we should be good to go in Le Havre!

The Dutch are out in force!

The dangerous Dutch duo: The Netherlands’ firepower up front could prove too much for New Zealand this afternoon. In Martens, the Dutch have the best women’s footballer in 2017 – having inspired them to Euro glory that year – while Miedema steered Arsenal to WSL glory last season, scoring 20 times as she picked up the PFA Player of the Year award.

Chelsea’s Ali Riley – who has played every minute of World Cup and Olympic football for New Zealand since 2008 – knows this afternoon is not going to be easy.

And New Zealand. Currently 19th in the world, the Football Ferns are playing in their fifth World Cup and are hoping to get out of the group stages for the first time. They are yet to win a match in this tournament after 12 attempts, losing nine times and drawing three. Could today be the day they make history?

Right then. The Netherlands. The Euro 2017 champions are playing in their second World Cup having reached the last 16 four years ago. Currently ranked No 8 in the world, they will be dreaming of venturing further into the knockouts this time around, and with Miedema and Martens in their ranks, anything is possible…

New Zealand XI: Nayler, Percival, Bott, Stott, Riley, Erceg, Gregorius, Hassett, White, Bowen, Chance

Netherlands XI: Van Veenendaal, Van Lunteren, Van der Gragt, Bloodworth, Van Es, Groenen, Van de Donk, Spitse, Van de Sanden, Miedema, Martens
