Carvalho makes way for Ruben Neves and now Portugal are almost there...

90'

THREE minutes of added time to be played. Portugal's supporters are in celebratory mood, but have the Dutch got a sting in their tail?

89'

WIDE! Ronaldo gets this one all wrong, curling his free-kick effort well, well wide.

YELLOW CARD! Portugal continue to threaten on the counter-attack as Rafa Silva drives his team forward, drawing a foul from Dumfries who also goes into the referee's book. Up steps Ronaldo to talk the free-kick...

85'

NO PENALTY! Moutinho goes down inside the box under pressure from Blind... you've seen them given but the referee isn't interested!

84'

The nerves are tangible as the game nears its conclusion. There are just over five minutes of normal time remaining - can Portugal hang on for what would be a second successive European title?

82'

VAR CHECK! A potential handball by Fonte in the Portuguese penalty area is checked by VAR, but there's nothing doing.

OVER! De Roon, a Middlesbrough flop, hits a well-executed first-time shot but it's always rising.

78'

Rafa Silva, with fresh legs, carries the ball an awful long way, well into Dutch territory to give his side some much-needed respite.

PORTUGAL SUB: Guedes goes off to a standing ovation. Will his goal prove to be the tournament-winner? His replacement is Rafa Silva.

72'

Promes is slipped in behind the Portuguese defence but his cross is cleared away from danger. Ronaldo is urging his team mates to concentrate. They have just over 15 minutes of normal time to hold out, plus whatever time is added on.

71'

Portugal look good value for their lead at the moment and they're working desperately hard at the back to keep their advantage in tact. They have conceded only eight goals in their last 13 games.

69'

IMPORTANT DEFENDING! Dias rises highest to head clear Blind's cross. It was a header had to make as Dutch players were queuing up to make the finish at the far post.

68'

That was Guedes' first competitive goal for Portugal - and what a time to get it.

66'

VITAL DEFENDING! And brave. Guerreiro knows he's going to get clattered as a cross is sent to the far post but he had to make the header and did.

65'

SAVE! Agile goalkeeping by Patricio as he gets down quickly to save Depay's bullet header. That's the closest the Dutch have come.

64'

What are the Netherlands capable of now they are trailing? They work it out from the back and Van de Beek forces a corner.

62'
61'

Guedes, the man who replaced Joao Felix in the Portugal line-up, has repaid his manager's faith with that goal.

NETHERLANDS SUB: Van de Beek is replaced by Bergwijn. A sign of intent from Koeman.

58'

After a dominant first-half display from Portugal, what we are witnessing now is a much more open contest.

57'

Fonte makes a mess of a clearance and Depay wrestles him off the ball, forcing a corner. Depay delivers the resulting set-piece but Portugal's defence stands firm.

54'

A gap is spotted down the Dutch right-hand side, releasing Silva, but his pull-back is intercepted, forcing another corner. Portugal are building the pressure once more.

53'

Portugal spring a rapid counter-attack, led by Ronaldo and then Guedes forces a corner off van Dijk. In comes the corner, De Roon heads it behind for yet another.

52'

The Dutch are moving the ball much quicker since the restart and they work it into a decent position with Depay on the right. His cross is catching practice for the goalkeeper, however.

50'

A through-ball carves open the Portuguese defence and releases Wijnaldum but he can't beat the onrushing Patricio. Wouldn't have counted anyway as a late, late flag is raised, an unfortunate part of the modern game with VAR in use.

48'

Dutch look brighter already with the introduction of Promes. He makes inroads on the left but Bergwijn can't get his foot on his pass as the ball rolls into the arms of Patricio.

HALF-TIME: There is no additional time and the players head towards the tunnel. Portugal may have had less possession but they have created by far the better chances. They haven't taken them. It's Portugal 0-0 Netherlands at the break.

44'

Netherlands force a corner, Blind takes it but it's cleared at the near post. Portugal break at speed, Semedo is played through but sees his shot blocked by the chest of van Dijk. Who else?

43'
42'
41'

SHOT! Classic Ronaldo as he skips away from Dumfries on the left after a couple of step-overs, checks inside and lands a fairly harmless shot into the arms of Cillessen.

39'

To underline Portugal's dominance... they have had nine shots - Netherlands haven't registered one.

38'

CLOSE! Portugal continue to ask the questions. The ball is worked to Fernandes on the edge of the box, he tries to find the top corner with a curler but it zips just over the crossbar.

36'

Portugal are carrying the much greater threat at the moment. Fernandes strikes a shot but none-other-than van Dijk makes the block, forcing a Portugal corner. Silva delivers but it comes to little.

35'

Now that's how you play out from the back, England. Portugal calmly work the ball out from defence, spraying it wide to Semedo. He's looking for Ronaldo at the far post but gets too much zip on his cross and the chance is gone.

34'

Oh, that's quite horrendous. The Dutch work the ball into a great position but Wijnaldum plays his cut-back short and Portugal regain possession.

32'
31'

OFFSIDE! Portugal threaten with another set-piece. It's worked short and eventually swung into the danger area, finding Ronaldo whose typical powerful header is held by Cillessen. Wouldn't have counted anyway - the Juventus forward was offside.

30'

SAVE! Fernandes gets plenty of dip in a powerful shot from distance, forcing Cillessen into a decent save. He pushes it wide and Portugal have another corner.

29'

HEADER! Fonte escapes his marker to meet the corner delivery - but he heads it straight at Cillessen.

28'

BLOCK! The ball bounces in front of Ronaldo and couldn't resist having a shot - it's blocked and Portugal have a corner.

26'

Portugal are defending in great numbers and the 'visitors' are really struggling to break them down. Let's be honest, it hasn't been great viewing so far. Tight contest.

24'

It has been a cagey enough affair with the defenders well on top. The likes of Ronaldo and Silva or Depay and De Jong are yet to influence the game.

22'
21'

Portugal, backed by a raucous support, are showing signs that they are about to spring into their groove.

20'

Ronaldo drives an inviting ball across the face of goal - but there's no one there. Decent move from Portugal though.

19'

Depay is crowded out on the edge of the penalty area and Portugal break with Ronaldo leading the charge, but the veteran is fouled in midfield.

17'

TOP DEFENDING! A loose pass in midfield is pounced on by Bergwijn. With little support, the Dutch midfielder tries to go it alone but he's well marshalled by Dias who takes the ball cleanly. It was a tackle he had to make.

15'

van Dijk's every touch is jeered - like it was on Thursday night against England. There are a lot of English in the stands tonight and they're quite prepared to get on the back of the Dutch defender again tonight.

13'

CLOSE! Fernandes lets fly with another shot from distance, it narrowly evades the head of Carvalho and any kind of touch would probably have taken it past Cillessen, but in the end it's a comfortable stop for the Dutch keeper.

12'

A first glimpse of Ronaldo who picks the ball up in a central area and rolls a beautifully-weighted pass to Fernandes on the right, he forces a corner.

11'
9'

SHOT! Fernandes drives forward through the centre with pace and intent. He has options either side but selfishly goes for goal from distance, screwing his shot well wide of the goal.

8'

A period of patient possession from Netherlands before an ambitious diagonal ball aimed for Dumfries is overcooked.

7'

Netherlands have scored in their last 12 games and have only failed to register once in their last 18 matches.

4'

NO PENALTY! Portugal fume. They go route-one, picking out Bernardo with a ball over the top, he goes down and immediately appeals for a penalty - the referee isn't listening. He was squeezed out of it by van Dijk and Blind, nothing more.

3'

Netherlands are playing in an unfamiliar blue this evening. They will enjoy plenty of possession, Koeman said as much before kick-off.

2'

A couple of fouls from the Netherlands as they try to disrupt Portugal's early possession.

19:40

FIVE MINUTE WARNING: Kick-off is nearing - who will take the inaugural Nations League title and make history, Portugal or Netherlands?

19:30

Netherlands made it through a group consisting of France and Germany before dispatching England in the semi-final, while hosts Portugal remained unbeaten in a group with Italy and Poland before defeating Switzerland in the last-four.

19:20

HISTORY MAKERS?

Portugal are hoping to become the first European nation to host and win a final of a major competition since France beat Brazil 3-0 in the final of the 1998 World Cup.

19:15

HOPEFUL RONALDO

This could be Ronaldo's last final on the major stage - unlikely, but at 34 time is against him. He will be desperate to make yet more history and lead Portugal to the first ever Nations League title.

He said: "When I pull on the shirt of the national team, it's a huge honour for me and it's a different feeling than it is playing for clubs. Obviously the chance to fight for trophies makes it even more special - like it was in Euro 2004 and Euro 2016, and how this competition will be now. Three finals and I hope to win two of the three."

19:05

VAN DIJK ON RONALDO

"We play Portugal, we are not playing Cristiano Ronaldo," said Van Dijk, who has yet to be dribbled past this season. "They have a very good team. It's going to be tough. We need to be ready."

19:00

'IMPOSSIBLE TO DEFEND AGAINST RONALDO'

Koeman reckons it will be difficult to defend against Ronaldo, who netted his 53rd career hat-trick in the semi-final win over Switzerland, but he expects his team to monopolise possession and starve the 34-year-old of service.

"We know sometimes it is impossible to have good defending against Cristiano Ronaldo," he said. "I think the best that we can do is keeping the ball, to have good ball possession because when we have the ball he can do nothing in attack."

18:55

NETHERLANDS GO UNCHANGED

Ronald Koeman names the same XI that defeated England 3-1 after extra-time in Thursday night's semi-final. That means that, once again, there is no place for Donny van de Beek who starts on the bench. Quincy Promes made an impression coming off the bench against The Three Lions but Steven Bergwijn keeps his place in midfield.

18:53

THREE CHANGES FOR PORTUGAL

Fonte replaces the injured Pepe, while Danilo comes in for Ruben Neves and Goncalo Guedes replaces Joao Felix.

18:50

Netherlands XI: Cillessen, Dumfries, De Ligt, van Dijk, Blind, De Roon, De Jong, Bergwijn, Wijnaldum, Babel, Depay.

18:46

All eyes will most certainly be on Ronaldo - and the 34-year-old will be determined to take centre-stage tonight having limped off in the early stages of Portugal's Euro 2016 final victory over France.

Cristiano Ronaldo Portugal
18:45

Hello and welcome to Eurosport's LIVE text commentary of the Nations League final between Portugal and Netherlands.

Cristiano Ronaldo is hoping to lead the reigning European champions to their second international trophy during his sensational career and having fired a hat-trick in the semi-final victory over Switzerland, the 34-year-old will be in fine mood.

But can he find a way past Virgil van Dijk? The Oranje captain is arguably the world's best player and has helped rejuvenate his nation. An international trophy would end a fine season for the 27-year-old and strengthen his case for the Ballon d'Or.

Team news will follow shortly, kick-off is just one hour away.
