Football news - Cristiano Ronaldo left out of Portugal squad
Cristiano Ronaldo has been left out of the Portugal squad for upcoming fixtures against Poland and Scotland.
Ronaldo was rested for the previous international fixtures against Croatia and Italy, and has not featured for his country since the last-16 World Cup defeat to Uruguay.
And after discussions between the player and Portugal coaching staff it has been decided that the 33-year-old will sit out the Nations League match against Poland on October 11 and the friendly against Scotland on October 14.

Meanwhile, Portugal coach Fernando Santos has offered his support to Ronaldo in the wake of the rape allegation.
"I personally always support my players and here it is not even a question of solidarity, I believe what the player said publicly, he considers (rape) an abject act and clearly reaffirms that he is innocent of what he is being accused of," said Santos.
"There was a conversation with the player, the president of the federation (Fernando Gomes) and I. We agreed that the player would not be in these two call-ups, this and the next one in November."
Ronaldo is being sued by a woman in the US, who claims he assaulted her in the penthouse suite of a Las Vegas hotel.
He won the 2016 European Championships with his country and is both Portugal's most capped player ever and the nation's all-time top goalscorer.
