Paper Round: Man Utd to break the bank for Koulibaly
Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester United, Manchester City’s potential Champions League ban and Ryan Sessegnon linked with Tottenham in Tuesday’s Paper Round.
Break the bank for Koulibaly
Paper Round’s view: Back among the gossip once more, this will not be the last time Koulibaly’s name features in Paper Round in the coming weeks as the summer window edges ever closer. After Van Dijk proved to be worth every penny for Liverpool, it would not be a surprise to see United follow suit. However, they will no doubt have competition to sign Koulibaly – and who’s to say Liverpool will not swoop in to form the most formidable partnership going?
Paper Round’s view: All reports at the moment, but it will be interesting to see how this story unfolds. It would be some dampener in a week they retained their Premier League title, being denied a chance to chase the trophy they covet the most, but let’s see.
Pep to spend £200m?
Paper Round’s view: 198 points in two seasons, but Pep Guardiola will know he can ill afford to stand still with Liverpool out to challenge once more next season and the others hoping to play catch-up. Would also be interesting to see who leaves the Etihad – few names have been linked with a move away.
Sessegnon nears Spurs switch
Paper Round’s view: Spurs fans will know it is in the wide areas where their team needs strengthening, and having been on the cards last year, this feels like a move which could well happen this summer. It will be fascinating to watch Sessegnon make the step up, and see where his abilities can take him, be it at Spurs or whichever club he will (almost inevitably) join.
