Verratti happy to turn back on Serie A prospects
Marco Verratti is certain he made the right decision by turning his back on Italian football to join Paris Saint-Germain from Pescara for 12 million Euros.
The teenage Italy U21 midfielder - only 19 but compared in style to Andrea Pirlo - has yet to play in Serie A, but will experience Ligue 1 under Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti with the Qatar-backed French club.
“I’m convinced that I have made the right decision,” said Verratti. “To play alongside these enormous champions is something that will be very useful – I’m learning a lot!
“You need to have pressure when you play football and I’m happy to accept that responsibility.
“The fact that Paris SG wanted me shows that I can do well, even if I have to demonstrate my worth to the coach first.”
