Alisson Becker is officially a Liverpool player, and the goalkeeper has already opened up on his exchange with Mohamed Salah the day before his world-record move.

The duo were Roma team-mates just over 12 months ago, and after Salah enjoyed a stellar opening campaign at Anfield, Alisson is set to team up with the Egyptian once more after completing a move, for an inital fee of €62.5m (£55.9m).

Upon the announcement, Alisson revealed the text message he received from Salah on Wednesday.

“We didn’t have that much contact after he left Roma. We met again in the game when we were up against each other [in the Champions League in April],” Alisson told

" Yesterday, he sent me a message saying: ‘Hey, what are you waiting for?’ As the negotiations were at an advanced stage, I replied to him straight away saying: ‘Calm down, I’m on my way!’"

“I’m really happy to have the opportunity to play alongside him again. As well as being a great player, he is a huge character and a great person - which is the most important thing.

“To be with these great people and players day to day is fantastic for me.”

Alisson becomes the most expensive goalkeeper in the world, overtaking the £34.7m fee Manchester City paid for Ederson last summer.
