That win gives Barcelona a five-point lead at the top of La Liga after Atletico Madrid's away draw at Leganes yesterday. It was a strange spectacle to watch at an empty Camp Nou, but Valverde's side got the job done nonetheless.

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Barcelona 3-0 Las Palmas
SUAREZ STILL CAN'T SCORE! Messi plays in his strike partner, but Suarez sends his shot wide of the far post and he rips his shirt in two in frustration. He's walked off for the final minute or so.
Just two minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
There will be fall out from this game, not because of the result, but because of everything surrounding it. Bartomeu says they closed the stands as a form of protest. Will action be taken by the league?
SUAREZ GOAL RULED OUT! The Barcelona number nine finds the corner of the net with an overhead kick, but he pushed a Las Palmas defender out of the way to get to the ball.
Tannane has been one of the best performers for Las Palmas this afternoon, but he shoots wide this time. Barcelona are just seeing out this game now, going through the motions.
- OffAndrés IniestaFC Barcelona
- OnAndré GomesFC Barcelona
Indeed, Barcelona are making the change here, with Iniesta coming off.
INIESTA INJURED? This could be a problem for Barcelona. Iniesta appears to have picked up some sort of knock. That would be a dampener on this second half performance.
Las Palmas have enjoyed good spells in this match, but at no point have they looked likely to come away from an empty Camp Nou with anything to show for their efforts.
This has been a completely different performance from Barcelona in the second half. Credit to Valverde - he recognised a problem and made changes to address it at half time.
- OffHernánUD Las Palmas
- OnVicente GómezUD Las Palmas
Las Palmas make a change, although it doesn't really matter at this stage.
- GoalLionel MessiFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 3 (77 mins - Lionel Messi) Las Palmas 0. There's the goal that puts the finishing touches on this win for Barcelona, and what a goal it was! Messi and Suarez play a one-two, with the former slotting home the finish.
It's difficult to envisage how Las Palmas can mount a comeback from two goals down in the final 10 minutes of this game. The away side have impressed in spells, but this is over.
Denis has probably been the best player on the pitch for Barcelona. He is enjoying a good season so far. Valverde has had a strong influence on the midfielder. He's becoming key.
ALBA IN A GOOD POSITION! That was a chance for Barcelona to grab a third goal. The ball was played out to Alba by Suarez, but the pull back wasn't good enough from the left back.
Just after that goal there was a protester who managed to break his way out on to the pitch. How did he manage to get into the stadium? Doesn't say a great deal about the security.
- GoalLionel MessiFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 2 (70 mins - Lionel Messi) Las Palmas 0. That goal should settl things. Suarez plays the reverse pass to release Messi through on goal and the Argentine makes no mistake in rounding the keeper and finishing into the empty net.
MESSI INCHES WIDE! There's another chance that Messi really should have scored. The ball fell to him inside the penalty area but he put his shot wide of the far post. It might have taken a deflection.
This has turned into quite a scrappy affair. Both Barcelona and Las Palmas are struggling to keep the ball under control. Considering how these two teams usually play, that's strange.
Suarez has been more lively in this second half, but he is still struggling to show any kind of cutting edge in the final third. This has been a poor season for the former Liverpool striker.
Aquilani has been rather impressive for Las Palmas in the last 15 minutes or so. The away side are now dictating play in the middle of the pitch and much of that is down to the Italian.
Messi takes another shot on goal, this time working the shot for himself inside the penelty area, but his effort picks up a deflection and Chichizola can make the save low down.
It's still extremely surreal to watch this match being played in front of empty stands at Camp Nou. You can hear every shout from the players on the pitch. A lot of swearing.
After a difficult spell in the match, Las Palmas are now looking much more composed. They have worked their way into the contest. Barcelona are having to do some defending.
The call from the Las Palmas bench is to speed things up. That's how quiet it is inside the Camp Nou, you can hear the instructions being handed out to the players on the pitch.
MESSI MISSES A SITTER! It's not often you see that. Suarez fights for the ball and clips a cross into the area. Messi gets on the end of it, but somehow plants a header wide from about eight yards out.
Barcelona look much more comfortable in this game than they did in the first half. Las Palmas seem to have lost some of the organisational fibre that made them so tough to break down.
The introduction of both Rakitic and Iniesta has made a difference for Barcelona. The hosts look much more creative in the final third. They will surely score more goals before this one is over.
It's just not happening for Suarez at the moment. He surely could have rounded the goalkeeper there and finished into the empty net without throwing himself to the ground?
- Yellow cardLuis SuárezFC Barcelona
SUAREZ GETS BOOKED! The Barcelona striker tried to round the Las Palmas goalkeeper and went down, implying Chichizola had tripped him. The referee booked him for diving.
- GoalSergio BusquetsFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 1 (49 mins - Sergio Busquets) Las Palmas 0. There's the breakthrough and it has gone the way of Barcelona! Busquets leaps highest at the near post to glance home a corner kick delivery. The hosts finally have the lead!
ANOTHER CHICHIZOLA SAVE! Rakitic takes the shot on the bounce from about 25 yards out, looping an effort towards goal, but the Las Palmas goalkeeper tips it over the bar.
MESSI HAS A FREEKICK SAVED! The Barcelona number 10 takes aim from the edge of the penalty area, but Chichizola gets across to make the diving save. This is becoming a bit of a duel.

Barcelona made a couple of changes at the break. Paulinho came off for the hosts...
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way at Camp Nou! It's still goalless between Barcelona and Las Palmas.
- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Barcelona 0-0 Las Palmas. A surreal first half comes to an end and it remains goalless between the two sides. Las Palmas have more than held their own so far!
OFF THE POST! Las Palmas come within inches of finding the opener! Calleri takes aim from inside the box and crashes the strike off the woodwork! Ter Stegen had no chance with that.
Frustration is starting to creep into Barcelona's play and in their conduct on the pitch. They aren't having things their own way. Las Palmas are making this a very tough game.
The away side are now knocking the ball around with confidence. They are being afforced space as well. Barcelona aren't controlling things like they were earlier in the match.
Suarez has been in poor form of late and the former Liverpool striker looks sluggish again this afternoon. He has been short of match fitness and that is showing in his performances.
It's almost as if Barcelona are struggling to get themselves up for this game, which would be understandable given the circumstances. They have got worse over the course of the half.
- Yellow cardGerard PiquéFC Barcelona
And another booking, this time for Pique, who dragged back Calleri.
- Yellow cardPaulinhoFC Barcelona
Paulinho is shown the first yellow card of the match for a late challenge on Chichizola.
PAULINHO SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER! That was a chance for the Brazilian. Roberto dug the cross out from the byline, but Paulinho glanced his header wide of the target.
PIQUE HEADER ON GOAL! The Barcelona centre back was up from the back for a corner kick, but he headed his effort against the head of a Las Palmas defender and goes over. No corner given, though.
Barcelona just haven't been able to find their groove in the final third. They have no issue getting to the edge of the penalty area, but beyond that, there is a lack of movement.
CHANCE FOR THE VISITORS! Las Palmas thread a through ball to the byline, with Tannane getting there before Ter Stegen to square into the box, but there was nobody to finish.
The passing from Barcelona in the last five minutes or so has been slack. Both Messi and Busquets have been guilty of it, which is extremely unusual for them. Usually rock solid.
Las Palmas are starting to work their way into this game now. They have weathered the storm of the opening 10 minutes and are now working their way into dangerous situations.
MASCHERANO CAUGHT COLD! The Argentine defender gave the ball away and that gave Calleri the chance to drive at the Barceloa goal. Pique came across to make the block.
Just for a moment, it looked like Denis was clean through, free to round the goalkeeper, but Chichizola forces him wide and that gave Las Palmas time to set themselves again at the back.
MESSI EFFORT SAVED! That wasn't far away from being the opener. Messi took aim from the edge of the box, but Chichizola got across to make the diving save from the freekick.
BARCELONA PENALTY SHOUT! Vidal feels he should have been awarded a spot kick there. The Barcelona wing back was in behind and went down under the challenge of a Las Palmas player, but no decision was made.
The two Suarez attempt to link up on the edge of the box, with Luis lifting a pass over the top for Denis to chase, but there was a little bit too much weight on the ball and the keeper came out to collect.
It's not often you see that, Busquets giving the ball away. Barcelona have enjoyed much of the possession, but they have struggled to make it count in the final third of the pitch.
It feels strange to be talking about football on this day. It's been an almost unbelievable day in Catalonia. Football doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but here we are.
Las Palmas tend to play their football with a certain style, but they haven't been allowed to show that so far. Barcelona are suffocating them with possession. Pass after pass after pass...
Another thing we haven't mentioned yet is that Las Palmas are playing this game with Spanish flags on their shirts. They put out a statement to say they support 'unity in Spain.'
Some shots of the fans waiting outside Camp Nou before kick off.
Now Messi takes aim from the edge of the opposition penalty area, but the block is made. Barcelona are in complete control at the moment. Las Palmas are hanging on a bit.
CHANCE FOR SUAREZ! The Barcelona striker is slotted through on goal, but the flag was up on the far side. He was just about offside, but the save was made from his shot anyway.
As you might expect, Barcelona have started the better of the two teams, controlling the majority of the early possession, but the visitors are defending rather well. They look organised.
Anyway, we should probably talk about the match itself at some point. Barcelona have the chance to stretch their lead at the top of La Liga with a victory this afternoon. They have enjoyed a great start.
The first hint that the game would actually be played came when the Las Palmas players came out to warm up about 45 minutes before kick off. Then the announcment was made that it would take place behind closed doors. And here we are.
Regardless of La Liga's decision, it was reported that the match had been postponed and the gates were closed to Camp Nou, locking the fans out of the stadium. That wasn't quite true, though.
Barcelona could have postponed the game if they had wanted, but they didn't want to lose the points. Las Palmas would have been given a win by default as they wanted to play it.
So let's run through what has happened up until now - about two hours before kick off, Barcelona asked La Liga to postpone this match. That request was ultimately rejected.
What a surreal spectacle this is. This game is being played in front of the vast empty stands of the Camp Nou. It feels like a training match. Doesn't feel like a real league fixture.

About an hour ago, it was reported by several outlets in Spain that the match had been postponed due to the violence in Barcelona due to the Catalan independence referendum. Fans aren't being allowed into Camp Nou, but there has been no official word and the two sets of players are warming up. Might they play it behind closed doors?
