Alessio Cerci completes AC Milan switch
AC Milan have officially completed the signing of Alessio Cerci from Atletico Madrid on an 18-month loan deal.
The winger’s switch had been in the pipeline for quite some time, with Fernando Torres’ move in the opposite direction being confirmed last week, but he is now free to debut for the Rossoneri against Sassuolo in Serie A on Tuesday.
Cerci, who cost Atleti €20m in August, participated in his first training session at Milanello over the weekend and was photographed putting pen to paper on his new contract by the Diavolo's official Twitter account today.
At the weekend club owner Sylvio Berlusconi said that he had wanted the player for some time, and joked that he has told his new player to shave off his beard.
"We have been following Cerci for three years. Finally he has arrived and he has already promised me he will cut off his beard for his first match," Berlusconi said.
"This year we have two objectives as you know, third place in the championship, which is necessary to get back into the Champions League, and we also have our sights set on the Coppa Italia.
"I think we have the chance with this squad to return to being major players in Italy, Europe and the world. I believe we don't need to wait for reinforcements to what we have now."
