Full Time

A fair scoreline in the end. Brugge the better in the first half and United in the second.

90+4'

With the last chance of the game the babyfaced De Ketelaere heads wide.

90+3'

Fernandes wins a foul just outside the Bruges box. He has really lit the game up since coming on.

90+1

It is United doing all the pressing now and Lingard has a shot from the edge of the box but Mignolet has it covered. Four minutes of injury time to be played.

87'

Fernandes hits the ball against the wall.

86'

Foul on Fred gives United a free kick on the edge of the D. Fernandes is lining it up.

85'

Mata plays one-two with Lingard on the edge of the box and then falls under a half challenge but the referee rightly waves away the appeals.

75'

Williams beats his man on the left but crosses too high for Ighalo.

83'

Fernandes hits a lovely ball to Mata in the box but was a little late delivering the pass and the little Spaniard was just offside.

71'

Fred has come on for Pereira.

70'

Vormer fires wide from the edge of the box after good work from Katelaere on the left flank.

68'

Ighalo is on! He comes on for Martial. United fans have a good chance to see him now.

65'

Brugge look the more likely to get another goal. Looking to pressure United when they have possession in their own half.

62'

Tau coming off for De Ketelaere. he started the game superbly. This lad has been impressive this season as well though.

54'

Vanaken is booked for arguing a foul against Brugge.

51'

End to end! Dennis is played in and from a tight angle he tries to squeeze the ball inside Romero's near post but the keeper blocks with his legs.

50'

Why did he pass? Mata drew the defence and played in Martial in the left hand side of the area but the French striker tried to square back to Mata and the danger is snuffed out,

49'

A good ball from Dalot is met by Lingard at the front post but he can't steer his effort on target.

47'

Balanta got a head knock from Dalot and goes off to be replaced by Vormer.

46'

Underway for the second half.

Half Time

It took a while to get going but we've got a decent game on now.

43'

Martial has a good shot from outside th ebox that Mignolet tips onto the post.

41'

Shaw does well to deny a Briges counter attack through Dennis. Does have the look of a player you go up against in a 5-a-side and you think 'he'd be decent if he lost a bit of timber' Luke.

40'

Balanta gets a yellow card for pulling back Mata. He will now miss the second leg.

36'

GOAL! United are level from Martial and it is as bad defending as for the first goal. Mechele let a slightly errant throw from De Cuyper run past him and the French striker robbed him 40 yards from goal and finished coolly.

31'

The fans at Anfield who were best equivocal about Mignolet love him now.

30'

United dominating possession but have created nothing bar Pereira's shot from long range.

29'

Tao and Dennis really are the worst pair for United's sluggish defence to play. Dennis on this occasion beats Dalot arond the outside and then shoots from a narrow angle but Romero pushes away.

26'

Matic heads the corner over the bar.

25'

United doing a bit better now and Dalot wins them a corner.

18'

United are all at sea. Tau bamboozles the United defence before Vanaken's tame shot is deflected wide.

15'

GOAL! Fiasco at the back for United. A long ball down the middle bounces over the defenders and Dennis runs on to it past Williams and over Romero who stupidly had come 20 yards out of his goal.

14'

Pereira, back in his native country, shot well with his left foot from 20 yards but Mignolet dives well to his left to tip wide.

12'

Both sides being quite conservative at present. So here's a weather update: the rain has stopped.

5'

So close for Brugge. A quick free kick caught out Luke Shaw and Emmanuel Dennis poked the ball past Maguire before nudging the ball past Romero and only brave defendign from Lindelof and Matic stopped a Brugge goal.

3'

Very skiddy surface is making passing hard.

1'

"We are still waiting, working on sharpness and hopefully he can get on towards the end of the game."

Top drawer bantz from United fans en route to Bruges.

17:28

Good memories for United fans from the last time they played in Bruges.

17:16
