Vidal, only on the pitch a matter of minutes, is booked for time wasting.
Three minutes will be added on. There is surely no way back for Sporting now.

- OnAleix VidalFC Barcelona
Suarez makes way for Aleix Vidal as the visitors look to eat up some more time.
- OffSergi RobertoFC Barcelona
- OnAndré GomesFC Barcelona
A second change for Barca as Andre Gomez replaces Sergi Roberto.
PATRICIO DENIES PAULINHO!
A huge let off for the hosts as they concede the ball inside their own half, Paulinho is released but Patricio makes himself big to block the shot.
Meanwhile, in the other Group D game, Juventus are leading Olympiakos by two goals to nil.
Sporting are looking very fatigued out there right now. They need to find one last burst of energy to have any hope of making a comeback.
Paulinho's first contribution is to blaze the ball over from 25 yards...
- OffAndrés IniestaFC Barcelona
- OnPaulinhoFC Barcelona
Iniesta is replaced by Barca's £40m man Paulinho. Still can't believe that transfer fee...
Sporting win a corner and it's an opportunity for all of the big men to come forward and put some pressure on the Barca defence. However, Bruno Cesar's cross is straight into the arms of ter Stegen. How disappointing.
Into the final 15 minutes and Sporting are going to throw caution to the wind to find a goal. It should make for an intriguing finale!
- OffFábio CoentrãoSporting Lisbon
- OnJonathan SilvaSporting Lisbon
The hosts make a double change as they step up their efforts to find a leveller as Acuna and Coentrao are replaced by Jonathan Silva and Bruno Cesar.
Will the hosts have a bigger opportunity to find an equaliser?
TER STEGEN MAKES A GREAT SAVE!
This is Sporting's big chance... Dos lines up Fernandez for a shot inside the area after a mistake by Sergi Roberto, but he can only fire it straight at the Barcelona goalkeeper who does well to push it away from goal.
- Yellow cardNélson SemedoFC Barcelona
Semedo is the first Barca player of the evening to be booked.
Suarez shoots straight at Patricio as Barca's search for a second goal continues.
Messi doesn't get it quite right as he bends the free-kick over the wall and into the stands.
Mathieu trips Sergi Roberto right on the edge of the penalty area, gifting Barcelona a free-kick in Messi territory...
So far only Coates' own-goal separates the sides, but Sporting still have around half-an-hour to find an equaliser. The hosts have been resolute in defence, but have lacked quality in the final-third.
Lady luck played her part in Barca's 3-0 victory at Girona on Saturday, and she has been involved tonight again...
Martins is capable of changing any game, but he has proved rather ineffectual this evening. He tries to find a team mate inside the box with the outside of his boot, but it is played too close to ter Stegen.
- Yellow cardSebastián CoatesSporting Lisbon
Another yellow for Coates, this time for a foul on Suarez. The Sporting defender then risks another booking by sarcastically applauding the referee's decision.
Messi is slid through but Mathieu bursts across to make a last-ditch block and deny Barcelona a certain second goal!
Rakitic appears to pull Dost's shirt inside the box, but the referee doesn't spot it! Barcelona fortunate not to concede a spot-kick.
- Yellow cardCristiano PicciniSporting Lisbon
Piccini pulls back Iniesta and goes into the referee's book as Sporting's frustrations threaten to boil over.
Very, very fortunate - but Barcelona won't care one bit. The visitors haven't been at their best this evening, but now they are ahead and will surely only grow in confidence.
- Own-goalSebastián CoatesSporting Lisbon
AN OWN-GOAL GIVES BARCA THE LEAD!
Messi's teasing cross is nodded on by Suarez, but the final touch is off Coates' chest and the ball is bundled over the line.
- Yellow cardMarcos AcuñaSporting Lisbon
Acuna goes into the book for blocking off Semedo and now Barcelona have a free-kick in a dangerous area on the right-side.
Iniesta plays another wayward pass and Messi's expression says it all. The veteran has been off the pace this evening.
- 2nd Half
The second-half is underway. Barcelona simply have to offer more in the final third if they are to find a way past a resolute home defence.
Juventus are being held at home by Olympiakos in the other game in Group D.
Luis Suarez mustered up Barca's best opportunity in a frustrating first-half for the visitors but he lacked conviction with only the Sporting goalkeeper to beat.
- End of 1st Half
Barcelona have dominated possession but have struggled to break down a stubborn and well organised Sporting side. The sides go in level at the interval.
Two minutes will be added on at the end of the first half.
- OffSeydou DoumbiaSporting Lisbon
- OnBas DostSporting Lisbon
Bas Dost replaces the injured Doumbia whose last action seen him booked for simulation. Utterly bizarre.
Messi is slipped through inside the box, he looks certain to score but Coentrao does brilliantly to get across and make a crucial block!
Messi, as he so often does, leads Barca's break away eventually playing a weighted pass to Rakitic inside the area. The Croatian tries to find Suarez with a pass across the face of goal, but Sporting hack it clear.
Doumbia looks in some pain after his fall. The replay shows Pique did not make any contact with the forward, but he is clearly in some distress.
- Yellow cardSeydou DoumbiaSporting Lisbon
Doumbia takes a heavy touchy on the edge of the penalty area and goes to ground in a bid to win a free-kick. The referee is not fooled however, awarding the Sporting forward with a yellow card.
Sporting are more than holding their own as we approach the half-time break. They have restricted their opponents to only half chances.
Martins concedes a cheap foul on the right channel. Messi whips in a delicious cross to the box, Pique nods it on but the hosts desperately hack it clear.
Barcelona keep the ball in defence before opting to go direct. The visitors are struggling to find players in wide areas at the moment.
The distance doesn't put off Fernando from having a go, but he contrives to shooting straight at the Barca wall.
The tenacious William Carvalho does well to win the ball in midfield before earning a free-kick which is around 35 yards out and probably in an unrealistic shooting position.
TER STEGEN SAVE!
Down at the other end and Marco Acuna forces the Barcelona goalkeeper into a good stop from the edge of the penalty area.
Suarez keeps the move alive though, crossing for Messi who can only head it straight at Patricio.
Great work from the Sporting goalkeeper.
Sergi Roberto slides through Suarez and the Uruguayan tries to beat the goalkeeper at his near post but Patricio is down to make the block.
- Yellow cardFábio CoentrãoSporting Lisbon
Coentrao goes into the book for a nasty and needless foul on Semedo.
Barcelona have had 67% of possession thus far, but in truth they have done little with it.
Iniesta is released at the by-line, but his cross is blocked and Barcelona cannot test the visitors from the subsequent set-piece.
Iniesta has been guilty of some wayward passing in Barcelona's midfield, which, of course, is completely unlike the veteran.
Sporting's well organised and disciplined back-line is making things difficult for Barca, and the visitors are beginning to grow frustrated.
Fernandez is looking sharp in Sporting's attack this evening. He finds some space to try a shot from around 20 yards, but Umtiti bravely makes a good block.
A ball over the top releases Alba and he cleverly pulls the ball back for Messi, but he cannot generate in any power in the shot as it rolls into the arms of Patricio.
The visitors carve Sporting's defence apart, but the linesman rules that Suarez was in an offside area when he received the square pass from Alba.
Piccini takes the ball down rather beautifully and is allowed to drift inside, before firing a shot at goal, his 30-yard effort just dipping over the bar. Great work from the Sporting full-back.
Messi's heavy touch inadvertently sets up Suarez for a first-time shot from the edge of the box, but the Uruguay international snatches at it, firing it well over the bar.
Acuna does indeed deliver the ball into Barca's penalty area, but the visitors manage to clear on the second attempt.
Doumbia gets away from Pique with a clever turn, but the Barcelona defender then fouls the Sporting striker and earning a free-kick which the hosts will surely pump into the box.
Iniesta tries to find Rakitic with a lofted through pass from deep, but he over-cooks the pass and the ball rolls through harmlessly to Patricio.
Messi sends his free-kick delivery to the back post, it evades everyone and almost creeps in! Sporting's goalkeeper didn't look at all comfortable there.
It has been a feisty opening to the game, both sides not hesitant to fly into the tackles. Now Sergi Roberto is fouled on the channel and Barcelona have a free-kick in a dangerous area.
Suarez is fortunate not to be shown a yellow card for a nasty looking foul on Fernandez. The fact he apologised to the Sporting player immediately after may have swayed the referee's decision.
- Yellow cardGelson MartinsSporting Lisbon
An early booking for Martins as he catches Busquets with a late tackle. Quite harsh, but the referee clearly looking to set the tone for the evening.
As expected, Barcelona, in their bizarre away kit, are controlling possession in the early stages. Looks like they are operating in a 4-4-2 system.
- 1st Half
The hosts get us underway! This is a big night for Sporting; a night when they can prove they are capable of mixing it with Europe's best.
There is a fantastic atmosphere at the sold-out Estadio Jose Alvalade, it must be quite an intimidating place to visit.
Sporting haven't progressed to the last 16 of the Champions League nine years - and have never won their opening two group games. Can they pull off a surprise tonight?
There are only 10 minutes until kick-off and I would love to know your predictions so let me know.
Sporting are no walkovers, but Barca will have too much for their Portuguese hosts, in my opinion.
Sporting and Barcelona’s only previous Champions League encounter was in the 2008/09 group stages. The Spanish giants won both games, including a 5-2 victory in Lisbon.
SPORTING'S DANGER MAN: GELSON MARTINS
The 22-year-old winger has pace to burn and clearly has an eye for goal too, already netting three times this season. It will be interesting to see how Jordi Alba will cope with him down the left side.
“Barcelona are doing well, Lionel Messi is strong and when those two things align they are almost impossible to beat,” said Valverde's counterpart Jorge Jesus.
“We have a lot of responsibility and now Sporting must continue to win points. We are convinced that we can take something off Barcelona.”
Speaking to press on Tuesday, Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde was full of praise for tonight's hosts.
“This competition, the Champions League, is very demanding because it is played at another pace. We are up against a top side and we are aware of that” he said.
“Sporting are a strong team who had a great season last year. They are good in midfield and they work well on the counter as one of their strong points is their pace out wide.”
Sporting may not be at Barca's level, but they should provide a stern test for Valverde's side.
Jorge Jesus' charges were impressive in their opening Group D match, overcoming Olympiakos in Greece 3-2, and have generally enjoyed their season thus far. If they can upset the odds this evening, they will have claimed an eight straight victory at Estadio Jose Alvalade.
SPORTING TEAM NEWS
Starting XI: Patricio; Piccini, Coates, Mathieu, Coentrao; Battaglia, Carvalho; Acuna, Fernandez, Martins; Doumbia.
Subs: Salin, Silva, Ruiz, Cesar, Petrovic, Dost, Figueiredo.
Paulinho drops to the bench, but there are very few surprises in the Barca line-up. New signing Nelson Semedo deservedly keeps his place at right-wing back.
Barcelona's full squad for this evening...
Starting XI: Ter Stegen, Semedo, Pique, Umtiti, Jordi Alba; Busquets, Rakitic, Iniesta, S. Roberto; Messi, Suarez.
Subs: Cillessen, Denis, Mascherano, Paulinho, Digne, Andre Gomes, Aleix Vidal.
As expected, Luis Suarez lines up alongside Lionel Messi in Barca's attack. The Uruguay international netted in the 3-0 win at Girona on Saturday, but otherwise has endured a pretty miserable start to the season, scoring only once more in six games.
Such form has raised question marks over the 30-year-old's ability to adapt in a new system without the creativity of former team mate Neymar, and Suarez will be out to prove a point this evening.
Good evening and welcome to Eurosport’s LIVE text commentary of the Champions League clash between Sporting Lisbon and Barcelona.
Ernesto Valverde’s side have won seven consecutive matches, including a 3-0 thrashing of Juventus in the opening group game a fortnight ago, and the Liga giants will be hoping for more glory this evening as they look to take control of Group D.
