90+3'

Great chance for Ronaldo to possibly seal the tie but he seems to fall over under no real pressure.

And that's full-time, excellent result for Real Madrid here in Germany.

Work to do for Bayern in the second-leg.

90+1'

Sergio Ramos thinks he's scored from a free-kick but he's given offside. Excellent call from the assistant there.

90+1'

There will be three minutes of stoppage time.

Modric is off with compatriot Mateo Kovacic on.

90'

Vidal's not happy as he is booked following a challenge on James and a push on Modric.

Wonder if that missed penalty is weighing on his mind...

87'

There's not a lot to report here. Real have all of the ball and they're very happy to keep it.

83'

Benzema has been pretty poor tonight and he's off now.

James Rodriguez is on to replace him.

81'

Muller is off as Bayern continue to chase the game. Kingsley Coman is on.

80'

Apropos of nothing Marco Asension has been magnificent since he came.

The assist for Ronaldo there was magical and he looks right at home despite only being 20.

He is very, very special and deserves to play more regularly.

79'

That's Ronaldo 100th goal in European competitions.

77'

GOAL! BAYERN MUNICH 1-2 REAL MADRID (RONALDO)

Finally Real get the second breakthrough. Asensio plays a wonderful ball over the defence and round to Ronaldo and he pokes it through Neuer.

75'

HOW HAVE YOU KEPT THAT OUT NEUER?!

How on earth has he saved that. Benzema holds the ball up really well and squares it to Ronaldo. He slams it from close range and Neuer just sticks out a massive hand and makes the save.

That was remarkable.

73'

SAVE!

Another great save from Neuer as he stops Benzema's first-time shot.

72'

Robben dances past a handful of Real defender but just as he is about to release Muller he gets the pass all wrong.

72'

That's a great chance as Asensio plays in a delightful ball from the Real right but Benzema heads over.

70'

Robben is not good friends with this assistant.

The Dutchman bites his tongue but is clearly not amused as another decision down this right side is given against him.

Real Madrid's Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates with teammates
67'

Thiago gets his head up and plays a wonderful ball across the field. Robben gets to it but he can't keep it in play. He feels he was fouled by Ramos but the assistant referee isn't interesed.

66'

It's Ramos with the free-kick but he curls it wide.

66'

Another change for Bayern as Ribery comes off for Douglas Costa.

65'

That's such a silly free-kick to give away.

A long cross from Benzema comes to RIbery on the edge of the box and he controls it with his hand.

This favours a left-footed player around 20-22 yards out.

63'

Here comes the change for Bayern as they look to react.

Alonso comes off and he's replaced by Juan Bernat. The Spaniard goes over to left-back with Alaba shuffling across to play at centre-back.

  • Javi Martínez

56'

WHAT A SAVE!

Modric sends a fizzing ball in and Bale powers a header towards goal. Neuer is equal to it and makes a terrific save.

54'

In other news that is now 53 games in a row that Real have scored in all competitions.

52'

Bit of frustration for Muller as he is called offside twice in quick succession. The second time he may have been on.

50'

Well this is worrying times for Bayern.

They really need at least one more goal, possibly two ahead of the return leg at the Bernabeu.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo

Within minutes Real Madrid are back in it. Casemiro spreads it wide to Carvajal. He cuts it back to the penalty spot and Ronaldo volleys past Neuer.

Game on!

46'

Welcome back, the second-half has just begun.

Here is that Vidal penalty

45'

And that's half-time and Bayern are by no means out of sight.

Real are right in this.

45+2'

Lahm, Muller, Alonso, Alaba...

These are all excellent penalty-takers. Yet it was Vidal who took.

45+1'

MISSED PENALTY!

That's terribe from the goalscorer as Vidal smashes the ball miles over.

Real will think justice has been done.

That is honestly terrible.

  • Dani Carvajal
Yellow cardDani CarvajalReal MadridPENALTY TO BAYERN! Ribery twists and he turns and he gets the space to take a shot. Carvajal blocks it with his arm and it's a penalty and a yellow for the Real man. I'm not sure about that...

44'

And there's the first yellow of the evening as Muller heads away and then gets cleaned out by former team-mate Kroos. The Real man goes into the book.

43'

Kroos plays the corner short and then gets it back. He comes inside and tries to bend one to the far corner but it goes just wide.

43'

First real chance for Real as Ronaldo turns and shoots. It's going into the bottom corner but Neuer gets down well and palms it away.

40'

More great footwork from Robben as he skips away from Kroos and sends the ball to the back post. Vidal meets it with his head but he can't get it on target.

39'

Lahm picks up a spot as a central midfielder and when the ball comes to him rather than shoot he slips a wonderful ball into Muller. He can't quite get his feet sorted and it goes behind for a corner.

37'

Rght Casemiro is going to continue as he waves away the stretcher that has come on for him.

35'

Thiago picks up the ball and plays a delightful chip into Alaba.

His cross is headed away before Ribery breaks down the left and squares it only for Real to block again.

Now the player is stopped again as Casemiro is down for the second time.

34'

Bayern keep the ball for a bit and eventually Boateng tries to play a ball over the top that is just too ambitious and it goes out for a goal-kick.

Bayern Munich's Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal celebrates scoring
32'

Bayern choose to kick the ball out of player as Casemiro is down following a challenge with Thiago.

I say choose, really they had no option as Real basically stopped playing.

31'

Bale finds some room in the centre of the pitch and he pings it out to Marcelo. The Brazilian plays an early cross but it is easily watched out of play by Ribery.

30'

The Allianz-Arena is rocking now and Bayern are starting to enjoy some more possession

28'

Right I was talking about the incredible home record that Bayern have.

What have Real got in response?

  • Arturo Vidal

24'

Robben gets down the line again but this time he goes on his right. The end result is the same as he forces a corner.

23'

Now it's Bayern's turn to have some pressure outside the Real box and eventually the ball is worked to Alaba who has cut inside. He takes aim but sends his shot just over.

21'

Robben responds for Bayern as he gets down the right. As usual he cuts back onto his left but Ramos puts it behind.

20'

Bayern are clearly a bit rattled by this spell of Real pressure as first Vidal and then Alonso misplace passes.

18'

BAR!

That's a terrific save from Manuel Neuer! Kroos is given way too much time to pick a cross and he gets it on Benzema's head. The ball bounces down and is looping into the top corner before Neuer gets the faintest of touches to tip it onto the woodwork.

He gets lucky and is able to gather the re-bound.

17'

Great chance for Kroos against his former club. Benzema reeives the ball out right and swivels and sets it to the edge of the area. Kroos hits it first-time running on to it but Alonso blocks. The corner is cleared.

16'

Rather predictably it goes straight over. Ronaldo really isn't that good at free-kicks any more is he?

15'

Dangerous free-kick to Real about 25 yards out...

14

Slight delay in play as Carvajal receives some treatment following a tackle from Alaba and then a collision with Vidal. He's back on the pitch and we're underway.

Real Madrid's Croatian midfielder Luka Modric (L) and Bayern Munich's French midfielder Franck Ribery (R)
12'

Bayern clearly feel that they can catch the Real defence out and there's plenty of pressing from the forwards and midfielders. It's working as well as they win the ball back on a couple of occasions.

11'

Some lovely one-touch play between Ronaldo and Marcelo ends with the full-back going down out on the left but the referee waves play on.

8'

Some Real pressure ends with Ramos having the ball taken off him. Lahm and Robben break together and the latter wins a free-kick with a lovely little skip.

7'

A beautiful flick from Bale gives Modric some space and he passes to Ronaldo but his shot is easily blocked. The ball is worked wide to Marcelo but his cross is cleared at the front post.

6'

Real get their first free-kick of the evening as Thiago goes clattering into Ronaldo.

5'

There's a third corner and Alonso tries to send it into the near post but Bayern can't work it.

3'

Bayern are already dominating possession in the early stages as Lahm wins a second corner for the hosts. Again it comes to nothing.

1'

And we're underway!

Bayern win a corner within the first minute but it's comfortable for Navas.

Not bad...

Bayern Munich haven't lost a home game in all competitions since March of 2016, that's impressive.

Real Madrid have lost twice away in 2017 alone.

You get the feeling these two are going to need to have big games if Real are to get a positive result in Germany.

Football Soccer - Bayern Munich v Real Madrid - UEFA Champions League Quarter Final First Leg - Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany - 12/4/17 Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale before the match

As for Zidane he's been talking about the criticism that has been thrown in the direction of his front three.

“They’re very experienced players and the better player you are, the more criticism you attract. I’ve got three players with a lot of character and they’re not fazed by this, quite the opposite. These are the sort of games they relish. I consider Bale to be close to being on top form. His lay-off was very lengthy and he’s getting stronger by the day. I hope that he produces his best tomorrow. Tomorrow’s game is an important one for him.”

Zinédine Zidane von Real Madrid

Here's some words from Ancelotti ahead of the match.

“They are having a very good season, we’re focussing on our qualities. I’m not talking about how Real Madrid will set up tactically, I need to think about my own team. It’s a meeting of two top sides who both want to play football.”

- Bayern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti before match

MASTER V APPRENTICE

Of course this match will see current Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane come up against his former boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Not only did the Italian manage Zidane at Juventus he was the man in charge when Zidane was assistant at Real, together they won the Champions League.

Ancelotti y Zidane, juntos como entrenadores del Real Madrid

YELLOW CARD WATCH

For Bayern Munich the only concern is Jerome Boateng who is one yellow away from picking up a suspension.

Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos are the two Real Madrid players who have to be careful.

SECURITY CONCERNS

Of course this tie comes just a day after the explosions in Dortmund that led to the postponement of the game between Dortmund and Monaco.

Ahead of this game the sheets that were planned to be used as part of a choreography have had to be removed.

Volunteers have to remove, by police order, sheets for the choreography prior to the UEFA Champions League 1st leg quarter-final football match FC Bayern Munich v Real Madrid in Munich, southen Germany on April 12, 2017. Security was ratcheted up in Munic

BAYERN MUNICH TEAM NEWS

So the big headline news is that Robert Lewandowski is not fit enough for a place in the squad as he continues to suffer with a shoulder injury.

Thomas Muller leads the line with Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery playing off him.

Right let's have some team news shall we? Starting with the home side...
