Lofkvist to lead Sky at Vuelta
Thomas Lofkvist will lead Team Sky at the Vuelta a Espana later this month after the British team announced their nine-strong line-up for the year's final Grand Tour.
Swede Lofkvist was Sky's best-placed rider in the Tour de France in 17th despite acting as a climbing domestique for Bradley Wiggins, who will end his season with the Tour of Britain.
The 26-year-old is joined by Simon Gerrans, who will return to action having made a full recovering after breaking his arm in the Tour, and Spaniard Juan Antonio Flecha.
Gerrans won stage 10 of last year's Vuelta to become the first Australian to claim victories in all three Grand Tours.
The experienced trio are joined by three young British riders - sprinter Ben Swift, Ian Stannard, who rode the 2009 Giro d'Italia with ISD, and 21-year-old Peter Kennaugh.
Finland's Kjell Carlstrom, South African John-Lee Augustyn, and Norway's Lar-Petter Nordhaug complete the roster.
