80+1

Ireland lose the ball into touch and that will be that. South Africa were there for the taking today and Ireland will be annoyed that they let that slip in the second half, after having been fairly comfortably in control in the first half

80'

The clock has ticked over past the 80 minute mark with Ireland further back inside their own half than they were when they started the move ... they are still in possession though

79'

There will be one last chance for Ireland, with 90 seconds left on the clock, as they win a penalty in the scrum on the half way line ...

77'

Heaslip tries to break from his own half for Ireland, before finding Zebo. But Zebo loses the ball forward in a very strong tackle from Taute. Ireland are just back inside their own half again

74'

Much better from Ireland at the scrum as then South Africans collapse and they go for the kick upfield and territory as they look for the try that they will probably need to win this match

69'

PENALTY SOUTH AFRICA! 12-16! Mike Ross is penalised at the scrum once again, for pulling it down, and Lambie this time makes no mistake as he sends the ball as high as it can go but, importantly, in between the posts to extend the Boks lead

66'

Lambie's kick is a shockingly poor one as he misses another penalty kick at goal, leaving the ball short despite being a fair way into Irish territory

65'

South Africa get a chance to clear from inside their own half, albeit only just inside their own half, when Ireland pull down the scrum

63'

Substitute Eion Reddan is just about ready to take the ball from the back of the ruck and push further for the line but the ball was lost forward and South Africa will have their chance to clear the line again in the middle third

60'

Sexton's penalty kick at goal falls just short of the crossbar as Ireland narrowly fail to take advantage of the chance to regain the lead. It's going to be a tense final 20 minutes though

56'

South Africa are looking increasingly strong now as they inch their way forward again from the line-out. But Ireland turn it over through Murray before Tommy Bowe clears

52'

PENALTY SOUTH AFRICA! 12-13! Ireland have lost the lead as South Africa continue to build on their performance since the interval and the rocket that was no doubt put under them at that point. Lambie adds another three points after O'Mahoney is penalised for not rolling away

49'

Danger moments again for Ireland as South Africa push their way up to the five metre line ... but the ball goes loose and Ireland have a chance to run it free. But Andrew Trimble thumbs the ball upfield to clear the lines instead

45'

CONVERSION! 12-10! Pat Lambie lands just his second kick of the day, he's been pretty poor so far today, and it leaves the Boks just two points adrift of Ireland

44'

TRY SOUTH AFRICA! 12-8! With Ireland a man down, South Africa push for the line again with Ireland again being penalised for bringing the maul down. The Boks get over the line but have been held up, they are still playing advantage though and will come back for the advantage. And this time Pienaar crosses over to touch down

43'

South Africa push for the line as Ireland give away three penalties, Jamie Heaslip being the las of the infringers - and it is he who is sent to the bin for 10 minutes. Ireland were a little lucky not to give away the penalty try there

42'

South Africa have a five metre line out after Ireland are penalised for not rolling away after the tackle. South Africa look to push for the line ...

41'

Patrick Lambie gets the second half underway at the Aviva ...

HT

Ireland 12-3 South Africa

40+2

Pienaar's kick is pretty accurate distance wide but it drops below the crossbar well before reaching the uprights and Ireland escape with the last kick of the half

40+2

South Africa are on their own 10m line when McCarthy is penalised for coming in from the side and Ruan Pienaar decides to have a kick at the posts. He's out wide in his own half so even with his range this is a highly unlikely kick

39'

Still there is heaps of time between each set peice as Sexton sets up at a snail's pace only to miss his kick at goal this time. It's his first missed kick of the day and there is just a minute left until the interval now

37'

Ireland beginning to take on the South African side as they run at them with the confidence of knowing they are playing with advantage. A poor pass out to Bowe on the wing means they will come back for the penalty ...

34'

Maybe that fight has warmed this match up a little, it's certainly warmed up the crowd as Ireland produce a healthy scrum that results in a penalty for them to clear from their own half

33'

JP Pietersen takes out Chris Henry early with a shoulder charge while the Irish man was waiting for a high ball to drop. There's another scuffle after that takes two or three minutes to break up before Pietersen can receive his yellow and marching orders to the bin

31'

PENALTY IRELAND! 12-3! Sexton receives some more treatment before stepping up and putting the ball in between the posts for his fourth successful kick of the day

29'

It's Sexton against Pienaar as Ireland win another penalty - this one within kicking distance - before a handbags style scuffle breaks out between some of the players

27'

A huge chuck of this match so far has been played in midfield and South Africa again fail to release after the tackle and Ireland will have a chance to break from midfield as Murray takes the quick tap penalty

24'

This time it is Ireland who are penalised on the deck as they fail to roll away from the tackle and there's an another age of time that goes by before the game is re-started. That is not helping the momentum, or lack thereof

21'

PENALTY IRELAND! 9-3! Another successful kick on goal from Sexton as South Africa look at disarray already. They look low-energy and like they have already played 70 minutes, no like they have only just started this match

20'

Bowe inside to Zeebo as Ireland go on the attack. Sexton to Strauss ... Healey ... South Africa are penalised again at the breakdown (that's already their fourth penalty conceded, in just 20 minutes

18'

PENALTY SOUTH AFRICA! 6-3! Signs now that the Springboks are settling into this match as Lambie is successful with his kick at goal, reducing the deficit to just the three points

16'

Mike McCarthy is penalised for offside as South Africa finally manage to put a move together. Sexton, by the way, is down injured in midfield and it's looking like it might be a shoulder problem.

13'

Lambie goes for an attacking line-out after Ireland are penalised at the breakdown. It's a better kick from the South African fly-half but still no real tempo from either side

10'

PENALTY IRELAND! 6-0! Sexton again takes his time in setting up his kick after Lambie was penalised for a bit of ill-discipline. Again it is successful for Ireland as they double their lead in a match that has so far really not go going at all

8'

Strauss - the South African Strauss as opposed to the Irish Strauss - slips and concedes the turnover as Ireland are awarded another penalty and have the chance to clear the ball up beyond the half-way line

6'

PENALTY IRELAND! 3-0! Sexton takes an absolute age setting himself up for the kick but it's all worth it in the end as he drills the ball between the posts and gives the home side the lead

5'

Ireland get the first penalty of the night and then also quickly get a second, when Heaslip is taken out early off the ball.

3'

South Africa looking to fashion an early attack as Francois Louw is clattered in midfield by the Irish defence

1'

Ireland get the clash underway through Jonathan Sexton ...

-

The anthems and "Ireland's call" all over and done with, we are just about ready to get this clash underway at the Aviva

-

Ireland are missing five very influencial players from their line-up with injury and are looking to bounce back from that poor summer tour. They are currently on their worst losing streak in a long time - four matches without a win
