Dier finds Sturridge - Cahill is up in the attack now. Walcott's pass from the right is sliced and cleared up to the halfway line.

90+2'

We have had a lengthy stoppage for treatment for Kozacik, so we are likely to have six minutes of added-on time.

90'

Four minutes of additional time. It ends Lithuania 2-2 Slovenia, which is good news for England.

89'

Alli slips in Walcott, and the Arsenal player is offside when he taps in from Sturridge's return pass. But Kiss seems to have the last touch, and Rooney is furiously contesting the decision.

88'

CHANCE: Walker runs at the Slovakia defence, and tees up Sturridge, who curls a shot straight at Kozacik.

Alli's angled pass towards Lallana is just overhit and Kozacik is out to field.

68'

Kane sees an effort blocked by Gyomber from a short Alli pass - England do need the Tottenham pair to gel if they are going to secure three points.

67'

Rooney's weak effort was England's first shot on target! It has been that kind of evening.

66'

CHANCE: Kozacik makes a hash of a Rooney shot, then England win a corner via the groin of Hubocan as Kane crosses straight into his crown jewels.

  • Dele Alli

  • End of 1st Half
45+1'

The Serbian referee blows for half-time, on a very low-key 45 minutes. It ends Slovakia 0-0 England, and that is 45 minutes of your life you are not getting back.

45'

One minute of additional time - Walker overhits a cross towards Rooney, and the England captain tries to set up Rose, who is stopped by a meaty Skrtel challenge.

44'

Lallana tries to flick on pass from Walker but Slovakia clear - really, Rooney should have been the man to run onto that run.

England's Harry Kane misses a chance to score
43'

Skrtel seems to pull down Kane down the left, but Mazic waves play on, to the consternation of the England striker.

42'

Rooney now coming back to start an attack 15 yards into his own half - sums up England tonight.

41'

Durica heads clear Rooney's corner from the left under pressure from Kane. The England skipper's corners have been really poor tonight.

40'

The game has opened up a little bit now. Kane shoots from outside the area, but his shot deflects off Skrtel for a corner.

38'

CHANCE: Poor defending allows Sterling space in the Slovakia right, but the Manchester City winger drags his shot past Kozacik's far post.

37'

CHANCE: Rose loses the ball down the right, but Svento is just not able to slide onto the low cross by Duris across the six-yard box.

36'

Henderson mistimes a sliding tackle on Hubocan - that was poorly timed by the England midfielder. Rooney shouts at his team-mate to stay on his feet.

35'

Sterling runs at Hubocan down the right but then concedes the foul as the Marseille player blocks his run.

34'

Kane heads clear a Mak corner from the right, and ref Mazic blows up for a foul anyway. Lithuania now lead Slovenia 2-0.

33'

This seems like an England under Hodgson performance - Rooney spraying passes, Kane isolated. Lithuania lead Slovenia 1-0 in the other Group F fixture this afternoon.

Rose misplaces a clearance straight to Gregus, but Lallana is out smartly to block any danger 35 yards from goal.

31'

30'

Some nice keepball at the back, but Cahill is then penalised for a foul on the halfway line. But England win the ball back quickly.

Gregus breaks up a Henderson run but the pass back to him is overhit and Hart is out to gather on the edge of his area.

27'

Sterling is late on Hubocan but the Serbian referee does not produce a yellow card this time.

24'

Henderson threads a pass through the left channel, but Sterling miscontrols as he runs into the area. Lallana and Sterling have swapped flanks, by the way.

23'

This is OK for England - plenty of possession but little innovation going forward. Crowd have been very quiet as well.

22'

Kane airkicks a shot at the near post from Walker's cross following a one-two down the right, and Durica clears.

21'

Henderson's half-volleyed pass on the edge of the area towards Sterling hits the hand of Durica, but there was no intention there.

20'

Dier finds Danny Rose down the left, but the pass is poor and England have to start again from the back through Stones.

19'

Henderson breaks down the right - from a cross from the right, Kozacik flaps horribly under pressure from Sterling. The Viktoria Plzen goalkeeper is about six inches taller than the England winger!

18'

Stones is late on Mak down the Slovakia right - a dangerous moment for England. Mak will take it himself, facing a two-man wall. Kane heads clear the set-piece though.

17'

Following a short corner routine with Lallana, Rooney floats the ball out of play. Stones feels Durica impeded him - the Slovakia defender tells him to get up.

16'

Lallana's back heel finds Rose, who wins a corner down the left off Mak.

15'

Rooney is playing very deep - Sterling and Lallana are the two supporting Kane.

14'

Sterling misreads a pass into the area from Dier, with the ubiquitous Hubocan again on his shoulder.

13'

Hubocan is again tight to Sterling on the halfway line and concedes a throw on the left of the halfway line - the Marseille defender is following him all over the pitch.

12'

Rose is fouled as he dives in to head clear from Mak 35 yards from goal - not much goalmouth action at either end so far.

11'

Serbian ref Milorad Mazic has a word with Rooney after the England skipper fouls Hamsik while stretching for the ball.

10'

England look comfortable and confident in this opening ten minutes. Rooney has been impressive.

9'

Rooney tries to find Sterling with an angled ball, but Hubocan is across to head clear.

8'

Plenty of keep ball from England - then Hubocan has a little hack at Sterling and England have a free-kick on the halfway line.

7'

Cahill again heads clear Mak's free-kick from the right, then Svento fouls Sterling from the second ball.

6'

Rose clatters into Pekarik down the Slovakia right - and the Hertha Berlin defender needs a moment to recover. Free-kick to the home side.

5'

A Hollywood diagonal pass from Rooney to Sterling, but the Manchester City winger miscontrols horribly and Slovakia have a goal kick.

4'

Cahill does well to head clear a cross from the right by Pekarik - good move from Slovakia.

3'

Gregus, I think, heads away an unconvincing corner from Rooney. From a follow-up move down the right, Pekarik clears from Rose.

2'

First time cross from Rose on the left, and England have their first corner.

A dreadful, dirge chorus of 'God Save The Queen' completed and we are off in Trnava. England in their away kit of red shirts and shorts and blue socks, Slovakia are all in white.

16:55

England midfielder Adam Lallana says he will not be happy with anything less than three points from the match. England have a superb in their last two qualification campaigns, for the 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016. Over the 20 matches, the Three Lions racked up 16 wins and four draws, with 62 goals scored and just seven conceded. "We definitely need to win on Sunday. We put the most pressure on ourselves to win games," he said. "We know we are a very talented group of lads and it's been important to get some good training in this week."

16:45

The only England manager to lose his first game was Sir Alf Ramsey in 1963. The last England boss not to win his first match was Sir Bobby Robson, who oversaw a 2-2 Euro 1984 qualifier draw against Denmark in September 1982.

Interestingly, in his first big TV interview since taking the job, Allardyce had told ITV1 that he wants the Premier League to introduce a winter break. "The one thing I would change is the introduction of a winter break. If it is wrong why does everybody else do it – why don't we?" he said.

16:35

16:20

Slovakia coach Kozak omitted the experienced Jan Mucha, Miroslav Stoch, Vladimir Weiss and Stanislav Sestak for the qualifier, while AC Milan midfielder Juraj Kucka misses out after being unable to take part in full training, and uncapped defender Jakub Holubek is sidelined with an ankle injury.

16:15

It is a bright and sunny day in Trnava, by the way. Quite high temperatures at the moment, but it will of course get cooler as the evening goes on.

16:10

Slovakia, ranked 24th in the world, played out a goalless draw with England in the group stages of the European Championship in France and have lost just once in 14 international matches on home soil.

16:05

Slovakia manager Jan Kovak has made five changes from the side that lost 3-0 to Germany in the Euro 2016 Round of 16 in Lille on 26 June. In come Marseille defender Tomas Hubocan, FC Copenhagen midfielder Jan Gregus, Dusan Svento of Sparta Prague and Zilina's Viktor Pecovsky, and Zenit's Robert Mak for Norbert Gyomber, Patrik Hrosovsky, Milan Skriniar, Juraj Kucka and Vladimir Weiss.

16:00

Allardyce says he would be happy with a draw against Slovakia, the highest-ranked opponents in a group that also includes Scotland, Slovenia, Lithuania and Malta. "Winning is what we want. If the nation thinks that's the only thing we can have to make us feel better, we'll try," he said. "But personally, if we get a draw from the most difficult game of the group, I'll be happy."

15:55

Captain Wayne Rooney, who overtakes David Beckham's record of 115 appearances to become England's most capped outfield player, plays in the withdrawn No 10 role behind Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

15:50

England manager Sam Allardyce named his side on Friday and selected eight players who started the humiliating Euro 2016 defeat to Iceland in June. Manchester City's £47.5m defender John Stones will partner Gary Cahill in central defence, while Jordan Henderson replaces Dele Alli in midfield and Adam Lallana comes in for Liverpool team-mate Daniel Sturridge on the right flank.
