Worth the wait?

Bad news for Scotland. They haven't come back to beat England since 1976!

Rashford's corners from the right have not been up to scratch. This one is too deep and nowhere near Cahill. Scotland counter and Livermore has to concede a foul that sees him go in the book.
Kane with his back to goal. He tries to turn but runs into a wall of Scottish defenders. The ball eventually falls for Livermore who sees his shot from 25 yards fisted behind.
Alli turns and looks to launch a counter but he gets his cross-field pass to the right horribly wrong. England had men in better positions to the left too.
The England corner comes to nothing. The Three Lions are looking the more likely.
Kane feeds Lallana who turns brilliantly, bamboozles Berra but flashes a rising shot just wide of the near post.
Tierney doing well for the home side on the left of the defence. He's trying to get forward when he can, but also keeping Rashford relatively quiet.
Tierney with a probing run down the left for the hosts, but his teasing cross is miles away from anyone in a Scotland shirt and Hart easily gathers.
Alli leads a rapid England counter. He waits for the run of Rashford to his right but the Man United forward touches it too far wide and can't get a shot away. He tires to cross but ends up giving away the goal kick.
England well on top now, but Lallana's curling cross from the left is too high for Alli at the back stick.

Alli picks the ball up 35 yards out and charges at the Scotland defence. He beats one and tries to squeeze between two, but the hosts just about close the door.

The home support are enjoying this so far. Boos for England as they look to settle into a decent spell of possession.
A snippet of the cracking atmosphere inside Hampden this evening.
The Spurs connection working well for the visitors there. You can't help feel that if Kane was wearing a Tottenham shirt he would have buried that.
CHANCE! Dier picks out Kane with a chipped ball into the box, but the England skipper can only rifle over the top after taking it down well and cutting back onto his left foot.
Southgate urging his players to keep cool heads. There have been some obvious nerves out there in these early exchanges.

- 1st Half
KICK OFF! England get this WC qualifier underway after a minute's silence.
Gordon Strachan will have just delivered his final words to his players ahead of kick off. In the build up he admitted he was giving some considerable thought to how to inspire his players. He said: "(There is) no Churchillian speech in the back of my mind at the moment, something kind of materialises and that's when it becomes sports psychology and the best in the world was Sir Alex Ferguson. I am sure he never planned some of his team talks, I am convinced he never."
'Choose life. Choose vines of Steven Gerrard being born slippy. Choose emojis, bad Photoshop and opinion - and hope that someone, somewhere - cares. Choose clickbait. Choose Bovril and a pie for six quid a pop...'
Scotland defender Charlie Mulgrew admits this is a 'massive' match for him...
The focus is on England's seniors today, but it will soon return to the U20s who reached the country's first World Cup final at any level since 1966 after mounting a superb comeback to beat Italy 3-1 in the semi-finals in South Korea.
Will the captaincy inspire Kane?
Kane finished the Premier League campaign with a real flourish to claim a second successive Golden Boot. He's now hoping to transmit his club form onto the international stage; He told reporters: "If I score maybe a hat-trick at the weekend and a couple in the next game, the ratio might not look so bad. Five in 17 isn't a terrible record but it is something I want to improve."
The calm before the storm...
Three is a magic number...
A Chris Martin goal in the 88th minute earned Scotland three points against Slovenia in their last outing, with Strachan calling it "a big performance". He's looking for the same again today, describing this as a 'must perform' game rather than must-win.
PREVIOUSLY: England ran out 3-0 winners at Wembley back in November. Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana and Gary Cahill were on target in a contest where the visitors had their moments and missed a number of big chances.
Some pre-match stats to digest.
It's five changes for England as they shuffle the pack following the win over Lithuania. Harry Kane leads the attack as captain with Marcus Rashford and Jake Livermore also getting the nod. Chris Smalling and Gary Cahill form a partnership in defence.
Scotland make two changes from the victory over Slovenia in their last qualifier. Christophe Berra and Ikechi Anya replace Russell Martin and James Forrest.
CONFIRMED TEAMS - SCOTLAND: Gordon, Tierney, Berra, Mulgrew, Robertson, Brown, Morrison, Snodgrass, Armstrong, Anya, Griffiths. /// ENGLAND: Hart, Walker, Cahill, Smalling, Bertrand, Dier, Livermore, Rashford, Dele, Lallana, Kane.
