World Cup Qualifier, Stade de France: France 2 (Pogba 58, Payet 65) Sweden 1 (Forsberg 54)

France fought back from a goal down to defeat Sweden 2-1 thanks to goals from Paul Pogba and Dimitri Payet.

The hosts had carved out the better chances before the break but found themselves a goal behind after Emil Forsberg's free kick caught a statuesque Hugo Lloris by surprise, the France keeper rooted to the spot. But the lead was short lived as Paul Pogba flicked home Payet’s set piece before the midfielder slotted home after keeper Robin Olsen flapped into his path.

Substitute Isaac Thelin squandered a great chance to level matters minutes from the end, with Laurent Koscielny doing just enough to put him off his shot.

France’s victory means they now top Group A with ten points to Sweden’s seven.
