Kayal backs Rangers decision

Celtic midfielder Beram Kayal believes entering newco Rangers into the bottom tier of Scottish football was the right decision.


Charles Green's newco club had their Scottish Premier League application rejected and have since been voted into the Irn-Bru Third Division by Scottish Football League clubs.

The 24-year-old Kayal, who is taking part in Celtic's pre-season after missing the second half of last season due to an ankle injury suffered in a fixture against Rangers, reckons the correct choices were made regarding the Ibrox club.

"We are talking about the Rangers situation a lot and my feeling is that when it happened to Juventus, Serie A got a lot weaker so what can we say about the Scottish Premier League?," the Israel international told reporters.

"However, being fair is more important than anything else and I think that for football this decision is the right one. I'm happy I'm at a clean and healthy club with a big tradition and lots of titles."
