The 26-year-old defender, who impressed for France at the European Championships, has been on Toon’s radar all summer and is valued at around £10 million by his club.

Newcastle reportedly tested the water with a £6m bid earlier this summer, but the player’s transfer may be expedited by his public desire to leave.

“Newcastle are my priority, although Inter also asked about me,” he told L’Equipe.

“I am 100 per cent committed to leaving Lille, as I want to try a new league.

“The coach wants to keep me and I cannot change his mind, but I will do all that I can to move.”

Lille want to keep their star players for next season’s Champions League and Ligue 1 campaigns, but the 2011 French champions have already sold Eden Hazard to Chelsea.

They have told Debuchy he will only be sold if a suitable replacement is found, but the player is suspicious of how serious they are.

Ten, 15 players have been suggested but still nothing happens,” he added. “There has to be some good will, it’s disappointing and it bothers me.”

Debuchy has spent his entire professional career at Lille, who he joined as an eight-year-old.
