Barcelona fall to a defeat at La Rosaleda. Malaga drew with the Catalans at Camp Nou earlier in the season and they have once again proven to be something of a bogey team for them. Next up for Lucho's men is Juventus in the Champions League. They'll have to be much better than this.

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Malaga 2-0 Barcelona
And it's no less than Malaga deserve. They have been the better team over the piece, with Barcelona vulnerable at the back. Lucho will face some pressing questions after this.
This will be a hugely damaging result for Barcelona. They could have gone joint top with a win here, but instead they will now lose ground on Real Madrid at the top of La Liga.
Four minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
- GoalJonyMálaga CF
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Malaga 1 (90 mins - Jony) Barcelona 0. That's the goal that secures the win for Malaga! They were toying with Barcelona as they scored that, with Jony finishing with aplomb after the cut back from Fornals. Great goal by the hopes!
KAMENI MAKES THE SAVE! Suarez got in behind the Malaga backline, but his shot is saved by the Malaga goalkeeper, who simply stood up as long as possible to make the stop.
Recio pulls up with cramp. It's understandable given how hard this Malaga team has worked to keep Barcelona at bay. They've made all three changes though, so he'll be staying on.
Kameni made a couple of excellent saves in the first half, but the Malaga goalkeeper hasn't had that much to deal with on the whole. Barcelona haven't been very productive in front of goal.
This is extremely unlike Barcelona. They are now launching the ball long, looking to play on the flicks ons of Alcacer. I don't think I've ever seen them play like that, even when they're losing late on.
- OffJuan CarlosMálaga CF
- OnJonyMálaga CF
Malaga make their final change, with Carlos coming off to be replaced by Jony for the last six minutes or so.
Malaga have done such a good job so far of plugging the gaps at the back, biding their time then making an intervention and hitting out on the rapid counter attack. It's a strategy that has worked so well.
- Yellow cardJuan CarlosMálaga CF
Juancar gets the yellow card for fouling Messi as the Argentine tried to get away from him in the centre circle.
Barcelona might be down to 10 men, but this game still has a pulse, that's for sure. The Catalans are giving this everything they've got. This could be one of the biggest games of their season.
BIG SAVE FROM TER STEGEN! Malaga come flying forward on the counter attack as they have so many times this evening, but Charles' shot is saved by the Barca goalkeeper.
BARCELONA SHOULD HAVE HAD A PENALTY! Roberto is brought down inside the area, but the referee decides that the foul was outside the box. Replays show that it's the wrong call.
This would be a massive blow to Barcelona's title chances. They have little over 10 minutes to find at least one goal to spare theur blushes and ensure they don't lose any ground on Real.
Well, how about this! Replays show that Malaga should be two goals to the good. Penaranda was onside as he rounded Ter Stegen and stuck the ball in the back of the net a few moments ago.
Sandro has been exceptional for Malaga against his former club. He has given them problems all night long, and of course his goal is the difference between the two teams.
It's actually Malaga who look most likely to score the next goal rather than Barcelona. It's the home side who are making the most progress in the final third. Great performance so far.
MALAGA HAVE A GOAL CHALKED OFF! Penaranda gets on the end of a ball over the top, rounds Ter Stegen and finishs into the empty net, but the linesman has his flag up for offside.
He probably should have taken on the shot himself, with Alcacer played in by Messi, but he decided to try and pass it across the box when he should have tried to test the goalkeeper.
- Yellow cardAdalberto PeñarandaMálaga CF
It's not just Barcelona tempers that are starting to fray. Malaga need to make sure they don't get caught up in it.
- OffJuanpiMálaga CF
- OnAdalberto PeñarandaMálaga CF
Malaga make a change and off comes Juanpi, who played reasonably well, but lacking a cutting edge.
This is becoming a real turning point in Barcelona's season. This was a chance to draw level with Real Madrid at the top of the table, but it now looks like they might lose ground.
- Red cardNeymarFC Barcelona
SENT OFF! Neymar has been shown a second yellow card for a bad challenge through the back of Llorente. That could really cost Barcelona, who have been reduced to 10 men.
All of a sudden this has become an open match. Malaga are having a lot of joy on the counter attack, with Barcelona starting to create chances of their own in the final third.
NEYMAR HEADS OVER! Suarez breaks in behind the Malaga defence, bringing Kameni out of his goal. From a tight angle he finds Neymar with a cross, but he heads over.
JUANPI JUST OVER! Malaga come forward on the counter attack, cutting through Barcelona at ease. But when the ball is played to Juanpi on the edge of the box he fires over.
WHY DID HE STEP OVER IT? Neymar got to the byline and sends a pass into the danger area where Suarez was on hand, but he steps over it! There was nobody behind him! He should have taken the shot on.
Lucho tried a Plan B at the start of the second half and so you can probably count this as Plan C. Barcelona need to start making an impression on this game. They have to crank up the pressure.
- OffAndré GomesFC Barcelona
- OnPaco AlcácerFC Barcelona
Lucho is going all out for this, with Alcacer coming on for Gomes. Barcelona have four attackers on the pitch now.
The next goal in this match will be massive. If Malaga get it, Barcelona have a mountain to climb. If Barcelona get it though, you would fancy them to complete the comeback.
WHAT A CHANCE! Malaga win the ball in the Barcelona half from Iniesta, with Sandro squaring a pass to Juanpi, but the striker could only find Ter Stegen with his shot on goal. Straight at him.
It's just not happening for the Barcelona front three at the moment. This time it's Messi who strikes on goal, but there's no direction on his effort and the ball dribbles past the near post.
Barcelona are still taking chances at the back. Ter Stegen decides to play the ball short despite being under pressure from Sandro, but the German goalkeeper gets away with it.
Messi is asking the question - why wasn't Camacho booked for a reckless challenge on the Barcelona number 10 on the edge of the box? The Argentine has a point. Strange call.
This is a strong performance from Malaga. They look comfortable at the back, although a loose pass from Sandro gives Barcelona the chance to come forward on the counter attack.
There is a feeling that maybe Neymar is trying a little too hard to do things on his own. The Brazilian is taking this game on his shoulders, but he needs some help. Where is Suarez?
Barcelona have started this second half just as they started the first - on top in terms of possession, but struggling to make their dominance count in the way of scoring chances.
Yet another wasted freekick from Messi. He's normally so good from this range, but for the second time this evening he gets it all wrong and sends his strike well over the target.
Those two changes from Lucho give Barcelona more balanced look at the start of the second half, but that chance for Carlos moments ago show that they remain vulnerable.
Mascherano was taken out of the game by Carlos, breaking into the Barcelona box from the left wing, but Umtiti came across to make the challenge to prevent Malaga scoring a second.
- OffJérémy MathieuFC Barcelona
- OnSergi RobertoFC Barcelona
And Roberto has come on for Mathieu, who was at fault for the Malaga goal in the first half.
- OffDenis SuárezFC Barcelona
- OnAndrés IniestaFC Barcelona
Indeed, just as we expected Lucho has made changes to his team at the break, with Iniesta coming on for Denis.
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way at La Rosaleda! Malaga have a 1-0 lead over Barcelona.
What did you make of the first half at La Rosaleda? Does Lucho need to ring the changes at the half time break? Can Malaga add to the scoresheet? Tweet me your thoughts!
- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Malaga 1-0 Barcelona. Sandro's goal is the difference between the two teams at the break. Lucho has some work to do. This could be a big turning point in the season.
Juanpi gets a bit excited and blasts his effort well over the bar after being played in behind. The Barcelona offside trap is all over the place. Mathieu is having a nightmare.
Iniesta has been sent to warm up down the touchline by Lucho. Surely the Barcelona playmaker will be introduced at the half time break? The Catalans need his creativity and experience.
There's now an urgency to Barcelona's play that wasn't there before. They are upping the tempo of their play, taking set pieces quicker and attempting to crank up the pressure.
- Yellow cardFederico RiccaMálaga CF
Now Ricca is shown a yellow card as Malaga start to respond with a few crunching tackles of their own.
Barcelona's frustration is starting to bubble to the surface. They feel they were hard done by in the decision to allow the goal to stand. They are in the ear of the referee at every opportunity.
- Yellow cardSamuel UmtitiFC Barcelona
Umtiti is shown a yellow card, although I'm not sure what for. Was that for dissent in arguing the offside decision?
Malaga are once again proving to be something of a bogey team for Barcelona. This is a chance for the Catalans to go joint top of the table, but they have a real task on their hands here.
That was atrocious defending from Mathieu. He was the one playing Sandro on by a good few yards. He had no case at all, but it didn't stop him arguing it to the officials.
The Barcelona players are protesting the decision of the linesman for that goal. They believe Sandro was offside, but replays show that he wasn't even close to being offside.
- GoalSandro RamírezMálaga CF
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Malaga 1 (32 mins - Sandro Ramirez) Barcelona 0. Sandro has scored against his former club! The Malaga striker was released clean in on goal and had the full half of the pitch to sprint into and finish past Ter Stegen.
I don't think many people other than Lucho understand why Gomes is still starting matches for Barcelona over Iniesta. What does he offer over the Spanish legend? I don't get it.
WHAT A CHALLENGE! Gomes looked to have been played clean in on goal after a wonderful pass through from Messi, but Rosales eased him off the ball to prevent him from getting the shot away.
That was a wasted opportunity for Malaga. Sandro's delivery from the freekick was poor and Barcelona get off. Why is Sandro taking freekicks from that area of the pitch anyway?
- Yellow cardNeymarFC Barcelona
Neymar enters the book after refusing to move far enough back for the Malaga freekick to be taken.
Goms gives away possession in the middle of the pitch and it's not the first time that the Portuguese has been loose with his passing. The former Valencia man looks out of sorts.
Barcelona are going to have to be patient here. Malaga are something of a bogey team for them, and this game looks like it's going to be another challenging one for the Catalans.
That last chance for the home side illustrates the danger of trying to play out from the back. Ter Stegen is better at it than most, but he is certainly still prone to the odd howler.
TER STEGEN MISTAKE! The Barcelona goalkeeper gave away the ball to a Malaga player as he tried to pass out from the back, but Recio couldn't catch him off his line with the shot.
That was an opportunity for Messi to test Kameni in the Malaga goal, but he sends his effort over the bar. The goalkeeper only had to watch the shot fly over the target. Harmless.
Messi has been quiet so far this evening. Most of Barcelona's play is coming through Neymar. He has been the creator in chief for the Catalans so far, with his Argentine teammate snuffed out.
There is a feeling that Malaga are starting to grow into this game. Barcelona have had a couple of chances, but it's the home side who are now looking to play their game going forward.
Here we go again. I warned you that Kameni tends to find his best form when he comes up against Barcelona, and he has already made a couple of stunning saves from the Catalans.
WHAT A SAVE! Kameni pulls off a wonderful save to deny Suarez. The Barcelona striker was in on goal after a long ball over the top from Alba, but the goalkeeper made the stunning save.
Barcelona have yet to get going this evening. They have been rather subdued so far, with Malaga rather comfortable at holding the away team at arm's length. Barca need to up their game.
Lucho has sent Alcacer to go warm up as Suarez continues to limp. His injury can't be anything to do with the incident involving Hernandez, because that was a dive, nothing else.
WHAT A SAVE FROM KAMENI! Barcelona had three players inside the box with the ball played into the area. The flag was up for offside, but the goalkeeper pulled off a reflex save anyway to prevent a deflection from finding the net.
Now Suarez is limping to try and imply that there was contact in that last incident. Believe me, he's putting it on. There was nothing in it. He'll be fine in a matter of minutes.
Suarez spins off his marker and tries to buy a freekick off Hernandez, but the referee is falling for it. He went down far too easily, and the home supporters are letting him know about it.
As you would expect, Barcelona have enjoyed the majority of the ball in the opening exchanges of this match, but they haven't really done much with it in the final third. Malaga are comfortable.
- Yellow cardJordi AlbaFC Barcelona
The referee is flashing the cards already and Alba is the first player to enter the book, seeing yellow.
Some shots of the Barcelona warm up before kick off...
Many thought Iniesta would start this game after his performance during the week, but the Barcelona playmaker is once again on the bench. Interesting management from Lucho.
This is something of an experimental lineup from Lucho. Barcelona are missing a number of key figures, with Pique and Rakitic missing for the visitors to La Rosaleda.
Kameni tends to keep his best performances for games against Barcelona. There's just something about the Catalans that brings the best out of the Malaga goalkeeper. It's uncanny.
This might not be such an easy match for Barcelona, though. Malaga have been something of a bogey team for them of late. They drew 0-0 at the Camp Nou earlier in the season.
So the motivation for Barcelona is obvious this evening - a win would take them joint top of the table after the 1-1 draw between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in the derby earlier.
