Barton was one of six players training separately from the rest of the League One side's first-team squad after being told he did not figure in manager Graham Westley's plans.
And now the club are hoping the futures of the other out-of-favour players - Keammar Daley, Iain Hume, Danny Mayor, Jamie Proctor and Craig Morgan - can be concluded swiftly so space on the wage bill for incoming signings can be created.
Ridsdale told the Lancashire Evening Post: "Adam has gone to Coventry and we are still in discussions with a number of clubs with regards to the five other players who are available."
