A disappointing result and performance for Scotland, You could make the case that Canada were the better of the two teams, with Aird certainly the best player on the pitch. Strachan will face some questions after that, but the real game is on Sunday when Scotland can't afford to lose to Slovenia.

  • End of 2nd Half
93'

FULL TIME: Scotland 1-1 Canada

92'

Is there a winner left in this match for someone? Canada are the ones in control of the ball and there doesn't seem to be much urgency from Scotland in their efforts to win it back.

91'

This has been a pretty dismal affair for everyone involved. What has Strachan learned about his players from this? What exactly was the benefit of this match from a Scottish or Canadian view?

90'

Three minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.

88'
87'

ANOTHER AIRD EFFORT! Not for the first time this evening the former Rangers winger takes aim from distance, sending his shot just over the target. That wasn't far away at all.

86'

That was a crunching tackle from Berra. The Scotland centre back won the ball cleanly, but he also took out Hoilett in the process. The Canadian will need a moment to get to his feet.

85'

Griffiths has never actually scored for Scotland, with this being his 11th cap. But many would point out, with justification, that he has never really had a run in the team at any point.

84'
83'

Finally, Scotland look to up the tempo and pace of their play, but when Griffiths works the shooting opportunity for himself he drags his effort wide from the edge of the penalty box.

82'

Strachan won't care too much if Scotland fail to claim a win here, but it will be somewhat embarrassing. Canada are ranked at 115th in the world. And this isn't even their strongest team.

81'

Is there a winner left in this game for one of these two teams? Canada are actually the ones pressing now. Scotland aren't showing much in the way of urgency. Disappointing.

80'
79'

GREAT EFFORT FROM AIRD! Once again the Canadian winger cuts inside and causes Scotland problems, sending a shot off on goal. McGregor was alert to it, though, and made the stop.

76'

WELL OVER THE CROSSBAR! It all opened up for Bannan on the edge of the box. He had time to pick his spot, but his guides his effort well over the target. Wasted opportunity.

75'

The pitch at Easter Road is now cutting up pretty badly. There has been heavy rain in Edinburgh all day and it is now having an impact on the playing surface. A turnip field.

74'
73'

At the very least, Scotland look more lively in the final third with Griffiths on the pitch. His movement gives the team so many more options when they look to pass the ball forward.

71'

It will interesting to see how Scotland line up on Sunday against Slovenia on the back of this performance. There will be a lot of changes, but could Griffiths be one that stakes his claim?

  • La'Vere Corbin-Ong
OffMaxim TissotCanadaThere's the first outfield change for Canada. A draw here would be quite a big result for them.

69'

Much better from Scotland, but Snodgrass just couldn't take it into his stride. The pass from Griffiths in behind was good, but the touch from his teammate was missing and the move broke down.

68'
67'

That was a sore one for both Griffiths and Tissot. The two players clashed on the edge of the box, but the referee decided that it was simply an accidental coming together.

66'

Snodgrass got in behind the Canadian defence there, but his pull back couldn't quite find Rhodes, who had peeled away from his marker. You could see the idea from Snodgrass.

63'

BANNAN SHOT ON GOAL! The midfielder sees his initial effort palmed away by the Canadian goalkeeper, but he then blasts the rebound well over the target.

62'

Indeed, both Griffiths and Rhodes are stripped and ready to come on for Scotland. Surely it will be Martin and Naismith who will make way for the duo? Strachan is going for it.

61'

That was a nice idea from Cairney. He spotted the run of Naismith ahead of him and attempted to slide a pass into his teammate, but it was cut out by the last man at the back.

60'

Looks like Strachan is pondering a change. Both Griffiths and Rhodes have just been told to warm up on the touchline. Could TWO strikers be about to come on for Scotland?

59'
58'

Scotland are most definitely on top at the moment, but they look so static in the final third. There's very little movement there, so they're having to rely on set piece deliveries.

57'

That was a half chance for Scotland. Snodgrass' freekick delivery into the area was an excellent one, with Berra getting on the end of it. But the defender could only head over the bar.

56'

Of course, in the grand scheme of things this match doesn't matter, but it will pile the misery on Scotland and Strachan just that little bit more if they fail to beat Canada here.

55'

Scotland are seeing plenty of the ball in this second half, but they are doing very little with it. Canada are quite happy just to stand off them and let them play their game in the middle of the pitch.

54'
53'

It's not exactly clear where Bannan has been told to play since being introduced at the half time break. He appears to be drifting about all over the place. The central midfield link?

52'

That was wasteful from Jackson. He had the chance to run at the Scotland back four after cutting out a pass from Bannan, but he blasted the ball over at the near post rather than squaring it.

51'

There will surely be more changes before full time. Martin will almost certainly be hooked at some point. The big striker has yet to impose himself on the contest in any way.

50'

The hope for Scotland in this half is that they will make much more of an impression in the final third while also tightening things up at the back. Canada made them look vulnerable.

45'

HALF TIME: Scotland 1-1 Canada. The opening 45 minutes comes to a close and there is a spattering of boos inside Easter Road from some of the home supporters. Not great from Scotland.

44'

Aird has had the freedom to do whatever he wants in this first half. The former Rangers winger has easily been the best player on the pitch, but Scotland's marking on him has been atrocious.

43'

NOT FAR AWAY! It's just too easy for Canada when they move the ball into the final third. Bustos curls a left-footed shot towards goal, but his strike flashes just past the post.

42'
41'

MCGREGOR COMES OFF HIS LINE! Jackson gets on the end of a great pass from Hoilett, but the Scotland goalkeeper did well to come off his line and make the intervention.

40'

That was a poor pass from Naismith. The Scotland forward was in a good position on the edge of the box, but he played the ball into the left channel where there wasn't even a runner.

39'

At the very least, Scotland now look more certain of themselves on the ball when they have it. It's when they don't have it that Canada are still causing them all sorts of problems.

38'
37'

So will Scotland use that platform of an equaliser to really impose themselves on this game? They might be back on level terms, but this has still been a poor performance from them.

  • Steven Naismith
GoalSteven NaismithScotlandGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Scotland 1 (35 mins - Steven Naismith) Canada 1. The hosts have an equaliser! Wallace gets down the left side, squares a ball into the box for Cairney to shoot. Naismith sticks out a leg and directs the ball into the net to equalise for Scotland.

35'

Fletcher gives the ball away on the edge of his own penalty area, with Bustos given the chance to drive at goal. But he is tackled when he should have passed to his right where Arfield was.

34'
33'

BURKE'S EFFORT IS SAVED! The RB Leipzig striker gets turned and in behind the Canadian backline, but not for the first time Thomas comes off his line to make the save.

32'

Scotland might already be playing for pride in their World Cup qualification campaign. They got off to a really poor start and their chance of finishing in the top two might already be gone.

31'

Of course, this isn't the most important game of this week for Scotland. They face Slovenia in a World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park on Sunday. That's the significant one.

30'

I feel sorry for anyone having to watch this at Easter Road. It's cold and wet and Scotland have been unbelievably poor. This game as a whole has been unbelievably poor.

29'
28'

Scotland look so vulnerable at the back. Aird didn't even have to beat a defender to get that shot away on goal, the route just opened up for him. Really poor from the hosts so far.

27'

AIRD SHOULD HAVE SCORED! What a chance that was for Canada to double their lead. He dribbled along the edge of the box and shot at goal, but his effort flashed just past the post.

26'

BURKE SHOT BLOCKED! Cairney's pass finds Wallace down the outside, who cuts the pass back for Burke. But the RB Leipzig player sees his shot on goal blocked about eight yards out.

25'

CHANCE FOR MARTIN! The big striker is played in behind the Canadian defence for the first time, but Thomas comes off his line to smother the shot. Martin was on the stretch.

24'
23'

Scotland attempted to up the tempo of their play following the opening goal, but they have fallen back into a rut with their slow passing of the ball. Canada will be happy with this.

22'

That was close to being a golden opportunity for the home side. Anya gets a cross into the box once again from the byline, but Martin has the ball taken off his forehead by a defender.

21'

Canada are finding it quite easy to sit deep and soak up the Scottish pressure coming their way. That must be a concern for Strachan. This isn't going so well for the home side.

20'
19'

It's so quiet you can hear Strachan's instructions through the television. The Scotland boss just gave some encouragement to Mulgrew. I'll keep you updated with his touchline shouts and banter.

18'

Burke has looked the most dangerous Scotland player on the pitch so far. This is an opportunity for him to really nail down a place in the national team starting lineup for Sunday.

17'

It's dead inside Easter Road. There is just a handful of supporters at the ground for this game. It's safe to say that this friendly match has failed to catch the public's imagination.

16'
15'

Scotland have responded well since going a goal behind, but you wouldn't exactly say that they have created much in the way of goalscoring opportunities. They look lethargic.

14'

Aird is another Canadian player with links to Scotland, of course. The winger used to play for Rangers and now plays for Falkirk in the Scottish Championship. Took his goal well.

13'

So Scotland already find themselves behind here. It's been a poor start by the home nation and Canada did well to make the most of the opportunity when it came their way.

  • Fraser Aird
GoalFraser AirdCanadaGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Scotland 0 Canada 1 (11 mins - Fraser Aird). Canada have the lead at Easter Road! A cross from the left wing is poorly cleared by Wallace and Mulgrew, and Aird is on hand to make the most of the error, finishing past McGregor.

11'

While there is a first start for Cairney in the centre of the pitch, there's still a place for Martin, the striker who has been much maligned since he was brought into the fold by Strachan.

10'
9'

That was close to being the moment Arfield dreamt about last night. He picked up the ball on the edge of the box, dribbled past a defender, but directed his effort high and wide.

8'

Of course, tonight sees Arfield face the country of his birth. The Burnley midfielder played for Scotland's youth teams but decided to play for Canada after being overlooked for the senior side.

7'

FIRST SCOTLAND CHANCE! Anya gets down the right wing and hooks a cross into the penalty area, but Naismith can't quite direct his header on goal. He had a lot to do, not enough power on the cross.

6'
5'

There's also a start for Mulgrew, who is playing as a central defender this evening. That's the position he's been playing for Blackburn Rovers this season. Could he fill a problem area for Scotland?

4'

Strachan has been criticised for sticking by the old guard over the course of his time as Scotland manager, but there is a start for Cairney tonight, the young Fulham midfielder.

3'

Let's no pretend that this is the most exciting of internationak match-ups. Scotland against Canada doesn't exactly whet the appetite, but it's a chance for both sides to try out some new things.
