UEFA fine City for lateness

Manchester City have been fined €30,000 (£24,740) by UEFA for taking the field late for the second half of a Europa League match against Sporting Lisbon.

City were about a minute late in returning to the pitch after half-time in the first leg in Lisbon on March 8.

Astonishingly, the fine is greater than the 20,000 euros (£16,500) Porto were fined after their fans racially abused City players during their last 32 tie the previous month.

City cannot appeal their fine.
