We run down the major deals that took place in the Bundesliga on transfer deadline day, with Wolfsburg busy in the market.

The club allowed the troublesome Diego to move on loan to Atletico Madrid and replaced the Brazilian with a Spanish-based player in the shape of Barcelona midfielder Alexander Hleb.

The former Arsenal and Stuttgart player signed on loan for Wolfsburg, who also saw defender Simon Kjaer join Serie A side Roma on loan for the season.

Meanwhile, Hamburg lost Eljero Elia to Juventus and Werder Bremen saw defender Per Mertesacker depart for Arsenal as the Bundesliga was deprived of two of its better players.
