Having lost to Australia in their opening group game, England opted to bowl first as they sought their first win of the tournament, and made it count, skittling Ireland out for 109.
Essex seamer Reece Topley was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets for 14 runs in nine economical overs.
George Dockrell, who played for Ireland with distinction at the full World Cup last year, top scored with 28 in the middle order.
But the target was no problem for England, despite the cheap losses of openers Daniel Bell-Drummond and Alex Davies.
Craig Overton and Aneesh Kapil played steadily to see England to the target with 82 balls to spare.
England play their final group game against Nepal on Thursday, while Ireland take on hosts Australia on Tuesday.
