Lightning Lenny Daws' European title shot against Michele Di Rocco on June the 8th will take place at the Palazzetto dello Sport in Brindisi, Italy, Italian promoters OPI 2000 have confirmed.   The Carshalton light-welter has been in preparation since the beginning of the year. He said:   “It’s a dream come true you know, getting a shot at the European. Every boxer wants to be world champion don’t they?

There’s only a few of them that can make it, but the European’s your ticket, you know, if you can get that anything’s possible.”

Di Rocco's record reads 34 wins with 15 knockouts, one defeat and one draw, but Daws isn't fazed, and is focused on the challenge ahead.   “I knew it was coming, I just had to keep on progressing and I’ve picked up the EU title and it’s here now so I’m really looking forward to it.   “I know it’s in Italy, but by all means I’m going to be well up for it, focused and I’m going to go and get it.   “I have boxed abroad before in the amateur days and boxed well, so it’s not going to affect me - if anything I’m going to be more focused.   “I’m away from home, away from the family, I’ve gone to do a job and I’m going to do it.”   Also on the bill is the EBU super-middleweight title contest between Italy based Senegalese fighter Mohamed Ali Ndiaye and Frenchman Christophe Rebrasse.   The Palazzetto dello Sport in Brindisi, Italy, is near the coast, in the heel of the boot shaped country.
