Mayweather opponent Guerrero arrested for boarding plane with gun
Robert Guerrero, who is set to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr on May 4, has been arrested for attempting to board a plane with a handgun.
According to multiple reports the 30-year-old boxer had an unloaded gun in his possession on a Delta flight at JFK airport, bound for Las Vegas, where he is set to take on world pound-for-pound kingpin Mayweather.
The New York Post have reported that the gun was a .40-calibre Smith and Wesson semi-automatic, though the local NBC affiliate suggest it was a 9mm Smith and Wesson. Either way, there was no ammunition found on Guerrero’s person.
Though charges against ‘The Ghost’ are pending, his lucrative Cinco de Mayo weekend clash with ‘Money’ is not expected to be impacted by the incident.
Showtime spokesman Chris DeBlasio said the network, who will air the bout on pay-per-view in the US, would decline comment.
